Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

I haven't really had a problem with "soft" likeness sculpts on any of the lines yet. I can see Schwartzeneger's facial features in the Terminator sculpt, especially the one with sunglasses! Will the Star Trek figures, who's faces have been out there for 50 years now go for more than just a passing resemblance? I am finding that might be a deal breaker for some if these lean to softer likeness sculpts. I'm also hoping that Mulder and Scully from the X-Files will bear striking resemblance to the actors.

I also have a question about some of these figures coming apart at the torso seam, is there anything that can be done at the factory level that could prohibit this? I love all the effort you guys are putting into this line, Reis. I don't want to come off as a complainer. Lol

ALL likenesses will be better going forward.

Yeah, we've had some QC issues with our older factory. Our new factory has it dialed in.

If you can say are we going to get releases all year long or are they all going to be pushed to the 4th quarter again like this year?
Okay, if you want to add glitter to that glue you're sniffing, that's fine, but don't dump your whackadoo all over us. We'd rather not step in it.

That's too bad, I really thought that the NBX figures were brilliant and looked great in ReAction styling. I was really hoping you would end up going deeper into animated/anime lines. I do hope you decide against this and do at least one or two animated lines a year.

They'll all be spread out over the year. Last year's releases came out all at once, because we needed most of the year to design them first. Now we have a jump on the upcoming releases.

I think an animated property that would make sense for Reaction would be the 80s Dungeons and Dragons cartoon.

Just saw Pop figures announced for The Strain. What're the chances of us seeing ReAction versions? It's currently my favorite show on tv and would love to have Setrakian facing off against Eichorst in this scale.

So with another amazing announcement from Brian I was wondering how much input you have in what lines get chosen to be done.

I see a lot from the wishlist thread in there, but there were a couple lines I never thought of. Specifically Boondock Saints and Fast Times. Can you go into the details of those choices? Are they personal favorites of some of the Funko staff, hyped on some other thread about ReAction figures I am unaware of, decent selling licenses from some of your other products?

The rest seemed to be requested fairly often from your fan-base. It's always great to see that you listen to your customers and really try to get these things made for them.

I know you've said that you have no plans for modern styled action figures in 3 3/4"-4" before, but seeing the amazing lines you guys are doing in your Legacy product I really hope you decide to duplicate in a 3 3/4"-4" product line at some point.

Happy Holidays :)

No sign of Bill & Ted or X-Files so far in 2015, is there a chance they might still appear in 2015?

Actually, that sounds churlish considering what a great range of figures just announced for 2015... Merry Xmas guys!

Reis - So regarding the Disney license, does this mean there will be no other Disney characters in the Reaction line besides NBC?

I'm primarily a 6" collector. I ALMOST fell for Firefly ReActions. Almost. But the announcement of Legacy Firefly ultimately dissuaded me. Any chance that that line will ever be completed with River, Simon, Shep, Inara and possibly a reaver? That would be the point that i break down and get into ReAction. Either that or the inclusion of Herc/Xena.

Licenses get chosen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the licensor comes to us and wants to get in the ReAction action. Sometimes it's just a matter of "word on the street". And other times it's due to good sales of those characters in other lines.

Keep in mind that the Funko Forum isn't the only place from which we are seeing wishlists. There is a multitude of forums and Facebook fan pages out there that are just as, if not more, vocal about what they'd like to see. So we're doing our best to listen to as many outlets as possible.

Keep in mind that what's been announced is just a sample of what we have planned. Toy Fair will reveal all. And even then some other lines may get squeezed in after Toy Fair. Also, we're already roughly planning 2016, so just because it's not announced now, doesn't mean it's not going to happen.

Since The Rocketeer was announced for Legacy, Im assuming you got Jennifer Connelly's likeness rights to make a figure of her character from the film? If thats true, and you already have a relationship with the Henson Company, what are the chances of Labyrinth Legacy or Reaction or both? Also, David Bowie has given his likeness rights to other companies before for Labyrinth merchandise. And other members have suggested Labyrinth as a property they would like to see get made.

We do not have plans for Jennifer Connelly's character in the Rocketeer Legacy line, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's out of the question for Labyrinth ReAction, if we ever do make them.

The future for Firefly ReAction is hazy at the moment. Understand that not buying the first series of figures is a surefire way to not see a second series. We base a major part of our decision to invest in a second series on the sales of the first series.

Reis, thank you for all of the fan interaction and answering everyone's questions! It seems like the Reaction line is coming along great and I'm very excited for some of the new lines coming out too (Jaws, Boondock Saints, Breaking Bad, Fight Club etc).

Which of the ones are you most excited about (out of the ones announced thus far)? I'm sure you've been playing a big part in coming up with the licenses. Is there one (or more) that you've been dying to have since you were a kid? I'm relatively new to this line so I'm not all up to date on which series are completely new and which are being given the Funko treatment.

Now that you guys have revised your approach to likenesses, any chance of a "2.0" run on some of the initial reactions, like BTTF and Universal Monsters with improved likenesses, and also adding peg holes in the feet of the UM's?

Well, first of all, other than Universal Monsters (which got "the Funko treatment"), all of the ReAction figures are new. Meaning that they've never had 3 3/4" figures before. At least not in the vintage style.

As far as what's been announced, I'm positively beside myself with joy that Jaws figures will finally be available! But I guess Dark Crystal is the biggie for me. That's a movie that I desperately wanted toys from. I was so sure that they were coming out that I put them on my Christmas list that year, and my mom couldn't find them anywhere. That's because they never got released. So seeing those come to life is a dream come true. There are a couple of others that haven't been announced yet that are also setting off my nostalgia alarms. Just you guys wait...

First of all. Thanks for all the awesome Reaction figures recently announced. Lots of great stuff there. Was wondering with the Pulp Fiction figures, was it always intended for them to ship in two waves?

And with almost everything we've seen pictures of released, will we be seeing any new items before Toy Fair? Either online protos or better yet in stores?

As the father of two girls I wanted to ask a quick question on the subject of female action figures.

My youngest daughter plays with the Imaginext Super Friends line, and these are great figures for kids, but the imbalance between male and female characters is really telling. (Still no Batgirl, for example!)

There is sort of a perceived wisdom that female figures don't sell as well as male characters (although a quick look at the secondary market price of a Black Series Padme figure suggests otherwise), and I wonder if this is something you guys consider when deciding on which characters to go with?

So far, my feeling is you've plumped for the most significant characters (Sarah Connor, Zoe and Kaylee from Firefly, Marcia Wallace from Pulp Fiction) and haven't worried about gender, but I could be wrong.

Yes, Pulp Fiction was always supposed to be released in two waves. In fact, several of our lines were supposed to released that way, but our old factory got a little confused about that and just made everything all at once. Going forward, you'll hopefully see a more structured release schedule.

I'm not sure what we'll see before Toy Fair. I know that the bossman wants to keep as much as possible secret until Toy Fair.

Last year, most of the ReAction figure images were debuted by Entertainment Earth prior to Toy Fair. Will that be the case again?

If not, and product is shown at Toy Fair for the first time...I hope the ReAction display is not backlit like it was last year. It made photography very difficult and the product hard to see in pictures.

February seems so far away!

Reis,

How many ReAction figures do you have in your personal collection?

I have all of them. :)

That's awesome! Its always good to know that the designers are collectors too.

So 21 new lines have been announced for 2015 so far through the 12 days of Christmas. 21 seems staggering but you mentioned that was just scratching the surface. Any chance you can say how many lines total will be offered for 2015? Just wondering if you could give just a number with no details attached. Even better would be how many total figures (minus exclusives and chase figures) you plan on offering in 2015.

45 days...

Not sure about sales. And we haven't planned a second wave yet.

Well, as a designer, I get one of everything I've worked on, so it's not hard to be a collector. ;)

I can't go into anything that hasn't been announced yet. Sorry! And a lot can change over a year, some licenses fall away, some new ones pop up, that there's no way I can give a definite count.

All will be clearer come Toy Fair. :)

I like the fact that you said "yet". It gives me hope for a Xander & Giles...and more of the gang!
Buffy POP! & Re-Action figures I want most in wave 2: Giles, Xander, Faith, Cordelia, Anya, The Master, Drusilla, & Vampire Angel
