Re: Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!
Mr. REIS,
For the horror series you have the heavy hitters for those horror movies and you coming out with a 2nd series; Have you ever thought to have a series of ReAction figures of heroes that include Zorro, Aladdin (from the real life movie), Sinbad, Lone Ranger, and others who are iconic heroes in their own right from certain movies, comics, or TV series?
For example the Rocketeer action figure could have been the first figure of a series of heroes!
What about any Games of Thrones characters in ReAction form?

Hi Reis,
1. Any chance for Hanna Barbera characters in the ReAction line? Space Ghost and Blue Falcon & Dynomutt have lots of colorful villains. They also never got figures in their heyday. I honestly would love every Hanna Barbera character made into an action figure.
2. Since you are able to make figures of the Flash and Arrow TV Series does that give us any hope for Batman 66 or Incredible Hulk 78 TV Series figures? What about the Super Friends or Plastic Man cartoons?
3. Would you consider the Groovie Goolies to be too obscure to do?
4. Any new news you can spill on upcoming figures?
Thanks as always!

I'm afraid that some of those characters are just too old or obscure for today's collectors. But I'd love to have one of The Phantom! (Will never happen.)
We have some plans for Game of Thrones figures, but I can't go too into that right now.

When you say "no LOTR", is that a licensing issue or just not on your companies radar? I know I'd love to buy them.
And for V, the lizard troopers would make incredible army builders, and I know I'd buy a lot of multiples!
Also, how did The Goonies do for you? Well enough for a series 2?

1. I pitched a line of Hanna-barbera heroes at one point, but it never took off. I'd like to also try to get the Thundarr characters made, even though they're Ruby Spears, but I think they'd fit in well. Maybe some sort of "Saturday Morning Heroes" line or something. I'll keep trying!
2. We're currently looking into what we can and can't do with DC superheroes.
3. Yeah, too old.

4. Yes! They will have 5 points of articulation and be carded!

We don't have the rights for LOTR in action figure form.
Goonies did not do well enough for a second series, unfortunately.

Sadly, nothing planned at the moment. We were hoping to do something for BTTF2 since it's 2015, but the first series just didn't sell that well.

Hi Reis. Were sales good enough to warrant a third wave of ALIEN figures? Would still love to finish off the Nostromo crew with Parker, Lambert; and Brett.
Also any chance we'll see figures based on the Mad Max movies?
Really like the idea of "adding on" a few figures here and there in the horror line instead of needing to fill a whole wave. Will this be something you'll consider for other lines too if there's a certain character/characters that didn't get released in the first wave but are often requested? Thanks.

Hello,
Have you looked into maybe making any characters from Willow in ReAction figures?
When will the other lines, not announced during Toy Fair 2015, will start to show up? During the summer or by the close to the end of the year or just around the corner?
These other lines not announced will be from movies that have not been mentioned? I know Aliens and Dark Crystal figures are coming out but will their be new lines from movies not mentioned?

We're currently focusing on getting ALIENS rolling. But more ALIEN figures are coming, I just can't say who, yet.
Mad Max is a no-go. The licensor isn't interested in making any product for that series of movies.
Yep, we're looking into the "add on" idea for a few other lines.

We haven't looked into Willow, but I do agree that it would be a cool looking series of figures!
Not sure about release dates, but you should have new ReAction hitting stores every month throughout 2015.
Yep. We've save some surprises.

Awesome to hear that work has started in Aliens! Quick questions:
1. Do you know how many figures will be in the Aliens series and will colonial marines fans be happy with the selection?
2. Is Aliens still in track for Oct-Nov release?
Thanks!

Hi Reis. I'm a big Star Trek fan and I love what ya'll are doing with Star Trek in Reaction. I would love to know if an obscure but cool Original Series Alien...The Tholian has a shot at a figure. They have never been done before so I would really love to get that one! Also do the shows Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise have a chance?

Sorry, but we have several other classic fan-favorite aliens we'd like to do before we start going too obscure. And no plans for the other Trek shows other than TOS and NextGen.

TOS and TNG are probably the best bet. Can't say I would pass on buying 7 of 9 if ya'll ever felt so inclined to someday bring in the other series. Not in the plans is still better than saying never going to happen and plans sometimes change. Will the next phase of TOS, after the wave with Kirk, Scotty, Vina and the Gorn also consist of two series of four figures for a total of eight as well? I'm sure Chekov will fill one of those slots. I can't wait for the others to be revealed! Any clues as to when we might see or hear about TNG waves?

Re: Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!
I thought up a few more questions for you Reis:
1) With the reveal of the Pop of The Phantom, would it be fair to say that he may also be on your radar to do a ReAction of him as well?
2) A lot of people may think Marvel and DC first, but there are some other great comic companies out there. Is there a chance you may partner up with say...Image, IDW, or Dark Horse, etc. to do figures of some of their properties?
3) You haven't looked into Willow yet? You're killing me smalls!
4) Speaking of "Smalls"...would you consider doing figures from sports movies? Maybe The Sandlot, A League of Their Own, Field of Dreams...?
5) Obviously, I'm not privy to rights deals and whatnot, but I was pleasantly surprised that you guys can do figures for Arrow and Flash. Are Marvel shows possible as well, or does Hasbro have them locked up tighter? I think figures for Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil would be awesome. Any chance?
6) How about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I think either of the movies are just screaming for toys. Hey, you could also do a golden ticket promotion where you put five golden tickets in random figures and people can win a tour of Funko HQ or something.
7) Any chance for literary characters? I would assume Cthulhu is locked up, what with Warpo making them...but how about Ahab from Moby Dick, Tarzan, John Carter of Mars, everyone from Where the Wild Thing Are...and etc. Any chance there?
8) And last but not least...are famous figures on your radar? I would love to get figures of Poe, Ben Franklin, Mark Twain, Shakespeare, and the like. Would this be something you could see doing?
As always, thanks for being there and doing what you do Reis!

Yes, I'm trying to get the next series to mirror the first, 2 sets of 4. Chekov will for sure be in that first wave.
We haven't even started on TNG yet, so it'll be a while before we announce anything.

1. I've been pushing for a Phantom ReAction figure from day one! Maybe if we can get Popcultcha to commit to an exclusive.
2. I'd love to do some figures from some of the other companies, but we haven't had a lot of luck making it happen for various reasons.
3. Yeah, we've talked about Willow. Nothing solid in the works, though.
4. I'd love to do some of those, but I just don't think they have the selling power we'd need to commit.
5. No chance on Marvel stuff. Hasbro has all of that locked down.
6. I'd KILL to do Willy Wonka figures! Not the remake, though. Unfortunately, I don't think we have the license for action figures.
7. Technically, Cthulhu is not locked up. It's public domain. That's why Warpo could do them. No licensing fees to pay. We could do our own Cthulhu, but that would be a jerk move, I think.

8. We actually talked about that, but that idea seems more "Archie McPhee" and less "Funko".

I watched with my children the "Neverending Story" movie, and my daughter said it would be nice to have a Luck Dragon figure with the boy Bastion. Have you looked into making any characters of the Neverending Story into ReAction figures?

We've talked about Neverending Story, but I'm not sure what's going on with that license.

I know you've mentioned a Horror Series 2.
What're the chances of Ash from Evil Dead being in that list, and if there are any licensing issues from the new TV show coming out?
Thanks!
The chances are pretty good, actually.

Re: Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!
Hello Mr. Reis,
Just saw Conan The Barbarian Movie with Arnold and it would be nice to have ReAction figures from that movie. Have the chances of making them into ReAction figures change to, might happen if certain things are resolve, or is it still some issues that cannot be resolve and it will not happen?
2. What about looking into Red Sonja characters from the movie to include them in a line of ReAction?
3. Prince of Persia is a Disney movie but have you looked into making ReAction figures from the exotic characters that could blend with any fantasy line?
4. Have you also looked into Braveheart for a possible ReAction figure line?
Thank you for reading our questions and answering them.

Conan probably won't happen. But I keep trying!
I don't think Red Sonja would sell very well. Although I would personally love it.

Nah, Prince of Persia tanked in the theaters and the original toys peg-warmed. I don't see us taking that on.
Braveheart is on the long list!

Keep fighting to get Conan in ReAction figure line, if it does happen I will buy it.
One more question:
If you do any characters in Game of Thrones in ReAction form, which character would you like to see done?

Hi Reis,
Here's a highly speculative one.
I know you don't want to go down the crowdfunding route yourselves, but would you guys be open to Fan commissioned figures?
By this I mean, if fans got together and crowdsourced for a particular character (for a license you already have, as I presume it would be easier) but that you don't plan to make because economically it wouldn't sell to a mass market. So a niche figure for fans willing to pay a premium.
This is also assuming there are no additional character/actor roadblocks for either financial or permission reasons i.e. as with Arnie or Phoebe Cates.
I'm thinking particularly of lines that haven't done well enough for a full-on additional wave, or if you don't see a mass market for anyone other than the main character, i.e. Escape from New York.
Ok , it might be hard to get fans to agree on exactly which character to do from any particular property, but it could potentially help to plug glaring gaps in certain collections. Fans would poll amongst themselves to see which characters were most wanted. And if successful its the sort of thing that could happen once a year.
The fans themselves would have to do all the fund-raising and drumming up support; you guys would be asked to set a minimum production run and provide an indication of the funding target that needed to be reached.
Assuming enough was raised to cover the total unit cost - minimum run, artwork, licensing, labour etc.- is it something you would consider?

I would do Khal Drogo, then pretend that he is Conan the Barbarian.

I'm sorry, but this just doesn't sound like something we would be interested in doing.

Hey Reis, thanks for answering all these questions and sorry if this has been asked before. I am wondering how well these have been selling compared to what you guys were expecting? I see them in many stores, but they don't seem to be moving much. I understand if you can't comment, just curious.

Name is Wil.

Overall, ReAction is doing very well! It's taken us this first year to get a feel for what's popular and what isn't. We overproduced on some things, so the people that wanted them got them and now the rest sit, while others keep selling out. I think the key is keeping fresh merch on the pegs, that's why we're scrambling now to get new stuff out there. We don't want to see the same few figures that didn't take off as well as we'd hope just sitting there and leading anyone to think the line isn't doing well. This is a delicate balance that all toy companies have to deal with, from Hasbro to Mattel to Playmates and so on. Our orders are off the charts! We've just got to hustle and fill those orders and keep the pegs looking fresh.
