Your 9POA Questions Answered Here!

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Your 9POA Questions Answered Here!

Postby ReisOBrien » Fri Jul 08, 2016 11:43 am

Hey kids, I'm getting a lot of questions concerning the new 9POA figures over in the ReAction thread, so I thought I'd start a new thread just for them.

It's worth pointing out that these are NOT ReAction figures. The more highly detailed sculpts, the more intricate paints, the focus on newer licneses and the added articulation set these apart.

Anyhoo... Post your questions here!

Yay new thread.

Any update on the Archer line? Will we see something at SDCC?
Are there going to be GLAMs of the DC Suicide Squad figures?

Mine are still carded, however will these have stands like some of the smaller feet Pops do? I know there are holes on the bottom like classic action figures but is that just for aesthetic or is there a big purpose?

I just Ebayed the Suicide Squad Harley...looks super fun.

I also have Jon Snow, Ygritte and Ghost on the way (supposed to show up Monday). Loving the pics and am crossing my fingers for King's Landing for S2.

Just thinking about how I would love to see a wave for Star Trek: Beyond in this 9POA line. The Pops look exciting! On seeing Suicide Squad Harley and Joker I gave in to weakness and EBay'd as well!

These guys are too effin cute in a good way. They really remind me of playing with SW as a kid. A few extra articulation points, which make it a little more modern and fun, which is perfect. I'm in love.

High hopes for GoT lasting for a solid 3 or 4 waves (at least) so we can get the major characters. I also really like that little bits of other lines like Suicide Squad are slipping in. Too fun.

Either King's Landing or Meereen.

I just peed myself a little. I didn't even want to get my hopes up that there might be a second series, so to know that even this much has even been considered makes me very excited. I really hope sales of the first series go well enough to see more.

Oh, and my vote's for King's Landing as well. As essential as Dany is, there are just so many more iconic characters in King's Landing. Diversity is the strength of a line like this, as so well-demonstrated with the Wall wave.

... And the Iron Throne would make a great playset piece (especially given the figures in this line have jointed knees)!

Too true. The jointed knees make the Iron Throne/King's landing idea VERY exciting. :-D

Nothing solid on Archer yet. And I don't think they do glams for box-only stuff. Just to manage expectations, there will not be any more Suicide Squad figures. We just did these two for the box.

They will not come with stands. But any stand on the market that fit vintage Kenner figures will fit these. Also, all the future playsets will have pegs, hence the holes in the feet. You'll see once the Wall playset hits.

Sorry, no other plans for Suicide Squad. But you will see this style of figure in future DC boxes, just different characters depending on the theme.

We haven't gone too deep into what licenses we'd like to commit to this line, at least until we see how this first wave of GOT sell. And as with most action figures, most of the big licenses are already snapped up by other companies, so people shouldn't be hoping for Star Wars or Marvel or Walking Dead or whatever.

I like them. I signed up to get the other DC boxes just in case. I guess I'll just have a pile of stuff for Toys for Tots later in the year. I like that the have ball joint heads. It would be awesome for ReAction to have that as well.

Ball jointed heads don't fit the ReAction style. Remember, ReAction are supposed to be like vintage Kenner, circa 1978.

I have all of this line now except for Tormund ( Big Bad Toy Store was sold out :-({|= ) I love them! Just a quick question though, " Was any thought given to doing soft goods for Jon's cloak?" I am going to give it an attempt on my own as the plastic used here is rigid and hinders the articulation. I'll probably make one for Sam too.

They had mentioned that producing the soft goods for Kyle Reese and the SDCC exclusive Mal Reynolds was very costly and that it was unlikely they would be doing any more soft goods.

Do you know when you will know if the GoT series was successful or not to warrant more properties in this format?

We wanted to avoid soft goods as much as possible. We're currently working with our factory to use a much softer plastic for anything that may hinder articulation (like we did with the Legacy figures). We're in the early stages of what we hope will become a line with a long lifespan, so we will constantly be making improvements here and there to make them the best they can possibly be at this price point.

Thanks for the input!

We should have some solid sales figures in a couple of months, but we're hopeful.

Once again, the best way to keep a line alive is to buy them and help spread the word. We're hoping that this line will appeal to a larger audience than ReAction, which is definitely a niche toyline.

Nope. It has to be part of the mold, and at a certain legible point size, per our contracts.

How often will there be figures in the club boxes?
Okay, if you want to add glitter to that glue you're sniffing, that's fine, but don't dump your whackadoo all over us. We'd rather not step in it.

Mr. Reis,

If the first line in GOT is successful, when can we expect the second wave to come to retail? You said that the second wave could be from King's Landing or Mereen, but can you mix in characters in a wave? What about having a dragon in one of the waves, do you think that is a possibility?

At this point, the plan is for each wave to focus on one area/city/scene so that people will feel they're getting a "complete" themed wave. Believe me, I'm as excited to get some dragons made as anybody!

My mind exploded at the thought of different figures containing one piece of a dragon and you collect them all you get a whole dragon!

I'm super excited bout everything 9P0A. I really like the dimension, and I think the head sculpts hit that sweet spot between modern & retro. My mini Harley & GOT figures give me that sweet feeling of nostalgia.

I hope the GOT figures are moving at a decent enough pace to warrant more. I'd really like to see some of the other major characters besides Snow in the line.
