Re: Bullseye Target Pop.
Ok... sooo... my wife looked up the DCPI earlier, and it said that they were in stock at our target. (bakersfield... Valley Plaza Mall)
So she went there, and couldnt find them. So she whipped out her phone and checked out local facebook pop group... someone said that they were holding them in the back, and you had to go and ask for them, that they were not going to be put out on the floor yet, but they were available. ??? WTF?
She asked an associate, and they said they had them but they were sold out.
So she checked the online stock checker again, found another manager, and he went and got her one from the back.
Don't know what's going on with these, but for some reason some stores are holding them??

That sounds super shady. I don't think they were doing the same thing at mine (I hope)... the employee seemed pretty honest about everything. Who knows though. Maybe after ZEA Batman, even the employees are getting paranoid. Haha.

Re: Bullseye Target Pop.
Went to 3 stores today so here's my "experience".... store one brickseek said they had 6 left. Got there found nothing and the associate had no idea what I was talking about so strike one. Went to store 2 showing 6 in stock as well nothing there as well. Stockroom guy came out and said they have in back but were not allowed to put on floor until the 16th so strike 2 for me. Went to 3rd store that showed 4 in Stock and electronics associate pulled one out from a locked drawer by the register and said there was a limit of 1 per customer. So I don't what to believe or how this will be distributed I'm just glad I got one just wish I could have gotten extras for some of you guys on the boards

Re: Bullseye Target Pop.
All we can do is chuckle at Target's lack of info. Do we sell them? do we hold them? do we lock em up? do we limit to 1 per cust? do we just sell em on ebay ourselves? will we get more? Do we try and trade them for Bob's Big Boy pops? Should we just hold them back and bury them in a new mexico desert with the atari cartridges? There seems to be ZERO communication from corporate. But I guess, in their defense, they have A LOT of stores with a lot of products to keep track of.

Walmart is the exact same way. You'd think if they want exclusives from Funko, they'd educate their stores about them.

As an employee of two years, and collector of about a year and a half, I can say with confidence that it's all just merhandise. They're toys.
They don't drive sales, people aren't coming in droves looking for them -- this isn't Hot Topic. Unfortunately, that's all it is.
I can only hope that since Bullseye is the damn store mascot, that he'll have more of a presence.

I agree. In a company as large as Target, they are simply toys, and only a handful of them too. And in the grand scheme of profit, they are probably less than 0.000000000001% of toy sales. The only way a store like that can spend the hundreds of thousands to advertise it would be to sell the BullsEye pop for like $20, and say that 100% of all proceeds would go to a charity, or local schools. Then they could purchase a larger run of them from Funko. Then the entire deal might be tax deductible for target and worth spending advert dollars on??
But what do I know? I'm just a Global Marketing Exec for different company.

On a sidebar, this is how I feel about Walmart exclusives too. Why? What's the point for Walmart? It's not their main draw, it's not what is going to bring people in the door (like Walmart needs more shoppers). The average Walmart shopper has no idea what Pops are or care whether there is an exclusive. And a lot of Walmart stores don't even receive them or receive so few that it only makes collectors upset and pads the pockets of eBay flippers. I don't think the exclusives are a win for Walmart nor Funko.
But I digress. I only have a marketing degree...and have never really used it in the real world.

Are you able to check if San Luis Obispo is getting them and if so, when? Brickseek showed we had some, but the employee said he hadn't seen anything come in yet and wasn't able to look them up for me.

I understand what you're saying, they're a small dollar item and as such don't really matter much in the grand scheme of things. But, if they didn't matter then Target and other big box stores wouldn't bother seeking out Funko to make them exclusives. The exclusives bring people into the store that might not otherwise visit, and when those people are there a lot of them are going to buy other stuff. That's how these kinds of things work to bring in more money. It's not the item itself they're looking to make big profit off of, it's the opportunity to increase store traffic that they're after.

Nah, Target already carpet bombs entire cities with flyers. Throwing a pic of the Pop on their existing flyers would cost little to nothing, and may very well bring new customers (or existing customers that don't visit often) into the store which is the whole point of a flyer.
That being said, all of the above also applies to Zur yet they made that one in such ridiculously limited quantities that it couldn't possibly have helped them from a marketing or sales perspective. So one can only hope that they learned the error of their ways and will make this one more widely available.

I have to agree, every time I walk into Walgreens looking for Pops/Minis I seem to walk out with at least a candy bar or something even though they never have the stupid exclusives. Before they carried Funko I'd never set foot in one of their stores.

Same here! I had never been in a Walgreens before I started collecting Pops, but now I've visited multiple stores more times than I could count. And I've bought a lot of non-Pop stuff there as a result, stuff I didn't even know they carried before- cards, gifts, cases of soft drinks, health stuff, etc. I doubt our Pop purchases are helping their profitability, but add up all the other stuff and it starts to mean something to their bottom line.

Seriously. I just bought the cutest birdbath on clearance the other day for $6, who knew they even carried that stuff.

They mentioned it in the announcement that part of the proceeds were for the ASPCA since they worked with them on the Pets, but I wasn't sure it applied to Bullseye.

Ya, on the back of the box it says that "Funko LLC will donate 50k to the ASPCA..."
Now that I read that, i understand why Target isn't advertising it... it's Funko doing the donating. Not target.

Re: Bullseye Target Pop.
I love you guys. And i appreciate everybody's insight and replies, but my statement was a reflection of a store mentality, not a corporate one.
And no, none of it makes any damn sense. Why did Target bother to partner with Funko and set up a section solely for Funko merch if we don't have what people are after? Why don't we advertise it more? Why? WHY?
I don't know. I wish I did.
Now I find myself wanting to inquire with corporate. Maybe I will.

We love you too. And we're just asking the same questions you are. As an exec at a large company myself, I can say... no one will ever fully understand the distribution and licensing agreements unless you're the lawyer who writes them. I know that I don't. But I do appreciate them happening. That's how we get cool pops like Bullseye.

Re: Bullseye Target Pop.
Okay, two targets I checked both said that the reason the pops were in the back, or under lock and key in electronics, was because they simply didn't know where to put them. They are usually departmentalized to go in either... Funko Display, electronics (game pops), or kids dept (charlie brown). Some stores still have pops in the general toy section, so some stores are throwing them there, but they were told to put pops in proper places, and since these didn't have a place... they got held in the back until a manager could ask another manager to ask someone where they should go. So to me, this sounded like a distributor issue. But i don't know.
Seeing how this is a branding item, and not an LE run, I would say with 95% certainty these will be available in bulk as time goes by. But then again, I thought that about the DisneyParks Haunted Mansion pops, and look how that turned out.
Asking prices on ScrewBay are like $25 with free shipping. Pretty sure I almost paid that after shipping, for a Dorbz this morning in the funko shop.
All I know is... I've got ONE. so I'm happy. And if this ends up being another zer en ah then I'll trade somebody for a bobs big boy. ;P

None of the stores near me have them yet, but I'm stilling laughing at burying them in the desert with the atari cartridges.

Our system isn't capable of seeing stock delivery for other stores. It only shows the specific store you're working in. All I can see is whether they claim to have some on-hand which is the same as Brickseek.
My store should have them friday so I imagine tomorrow and friday you'll see alot of SoCal stores get them in.

Ok, good to know! Do you usually put out merchandise right away or does it ever sit in the back for a day or two?

Definitely, unlike previous Target POPs, this is branding for them. I wouldn't be surprised if they featured a display of them in the front of the store or at the aisle caps

So, does anyone know when we can expect to see these hitting stores in the Southeast?

Our stuff gets pushed out the day it comes in. I think the issue people are having has to do with the dpci # for this Pop not currently being tied to a salesfloor location so when team members are scanning and stocking stuff on the floor they just see it doesn't belong out and it gets sent into the stockroom to be backstocked. And from there sometimes it takes a day or 2 for it to get properly backstocked depending on how far behind the backroom employees are at cleaning up everything. sometimes stuff just sits in carts for 4-5 days before they get to it.
My store is really good because I know the overnight team members that stock my Electronics and Toys departments so they set aside any new Pops that arrive so I can fairly distribute them to guests. We have several Frank and Sons flippers who come in at opening every morning at 8am so we try to avoid letting them grab stock of everything.

Come on, let's be serious. They don't understand the gibberish they write either.

found bullseye in socal today. store had four and they were in the electronics department at the register beneath the counter. sadly, all four boxes looked like they had already been through battle.
