Marvel POP! Updates Thread 2018 (Updated July 20th)

Not big on Scarlet Spider, just not me Spider-Man, so I'll be passing, especially with X-Men pops coming and that other leaked pic with some more Marvel characters, I want those a lot more. Very fun time to be a Marvel fan though, that's for sure!!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but apparently the release date for the Target exclusive Dr. Strange pop is this Tuesday. A bunch of stores near me were showing stock at Brickseek so I went in to get that and the games exclusives (Unmasked Emily and Spaceland Zombie). They would only sell me the Spaceland Zombie because of the release dates on the other two (Emily is Friday).

After careful examination it has dawned on me that #185 is Logan (Adamantium) while #193 is Logan (Bone).

As you all know before Wolverine got his adamantium skeleton his claws were made of bone so seeing this in pop form is really cool. You can see the difference on the claws on the Pop and on the box art. Seeing as these are labeled the same I will be labeling with the adamantium and bone for ease of telling them apart and discussion.

Great catch! I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference until I was walking out of the store.

As great as both of those Logans look, I'll likely just get the Target-exclusive Weapon X. Assuming I can track him down...

why in god's name would you make Ms. Marvel an Walgreens exclusive of all things?? You're putting out one of the first toys for a character with a big, very young, and very devoted fanbase and you literally make it next to impossible for that fanbase to buy? How does that make any sort of business sense? Did no one at Funko pay any attention to the mistakes Hasbro made following the first Avengers movie? Parents - who would quite happily pick up Ms. Marvel POPs for their daughters at Walmart and Target for regular price - are not going to buy it for the prices flippers are going to be selling them for on ebay, just like they didn't buy Black Widow action figures selling for 3-4 times the retail price. Instead what happened was a lot of complaints and a lot of bad press.

But no one, not Carol or Gwen or Jen's popularity matches Kamala's popularity with girls under 16. I'm just saying, there's going to be a lot of disgruntled parents and a lot of disappointed 12 year old girls if Walgreens handles this like they do every other exclusive.)

Checked 3 Walgreen's stores, including ones I've had luck at before, and none had any Marvel.

I really hope they'll be better about these. They have been kind of getting better (I still haven't found some of the older ones) but It'd be nice if we didn't have to fight for some of these exclusives.

Honestly, I'm usually the first one to defend Walgreen's exclusives. Spidey is one of my favorite fictional characters period, and I've always been able to find the exclusive Pops that I want because I'm actively looking for them. I understand that Pops are collectors items, and if you want to find the ones you want, you usually have to go hunting.

On this topic, however, I have to agree with you. Kamala's fanbase isn't typical Pop collectors, nor is it prominently adult. The current Ms. Marvel is, at its simplest, a comic for teens/pre-teens. She should be available to find anywhere specifically because of her fanbase. Restricting her to Walgreens, a place where so few teens OR parents go to look for toys in the first place, is a rare (and insane) tone-deaf move on Funko's part. Even if Funko provides Walgreens with a TON of these Pops, no parent is going to check the toy aisle of a drug store for Christmas gifts.

Yeah...unfortunately, I have to agree. This was an irresponsible move on their part.

So Walgreens in Long Island reportedly got a shipment of Ms. Marvel and Scarlet Spider. Anyone else in the NYC find anything? I've been on the hunt and have found nothing so far.

Barnes & Noble will have a 2-Pack of She-Hulk and Spider-Gwen coming soon. It's just the commons in 1 pack. It's going to be in Hot Topic as well too and I'm sure other places.
