That's an odd combination... :-k

And why just re-release commons already readily available in a 2-pack? Makes no sense. Easy pass for me. I already have Spider-Gwen, and don't want She-Hulk.

why in god's name would you make Ms. Marvel an Walgreens exclusive of all things?? You're putting out one of the first toys for a character with a big, very young, and very devoted fanbase and you literally make it next to impossible for that fanbase to buy? How does that make any sort of business sense? Did no one at Funko pay any attention to the mistakes Hasbro made following the first Avengers movie? Parents - who would quite happily pick up Ms. Marvel POPs for their daughters at Walmart and Target for regular price - are not going to buy it for the prices flippers are going to be selling them for on ebay, just like they didn't buy Black Widow action figures selling for 3-4 times the retail price. Instead what happened was a lot of complaints and a lot of bad press.

(and before anyone mentions that there are lots of Marvel superheroine POPs available, yes I know that, I own most of them. But no one, not Carol or Gwen or Jen's popularity matches Kamala's popularity with girls under 16. I'm just saying, there's going to be a lot of disgruntled parents and a lot of disappointed 12 year old girls if Walgreens handles this like they do every other exclusive.)

This is very disheartening, I don't even have any Walgreens close to me! Argh - as if I'm not on a quest for enough Pops right now?

Totally agree with just about everyone else on this, Walgreens distribution for their exclusives is absolutely terrible. I have 3 that are within an hour of me and I can count on one hand the amount of times I've actually been able to find POP's or Minimates in store. As a Scarlet Spider collector, I've been waiting for ages to get an official one and it's very disheartening to see the Walgreens sticker on the front, as it means I'll have to pay 3-4X the purchase price in order to add it to my collection. Very frustrating.

Unexpectedly, Marvel has announced The Inhumans TV show, and looks like this show isn't getting a normal release, it will have an IMAX screening for two weeks for the first two episodes. So, I hope funko do some pops based on this in time for the show's release. :compress:

Indeed they are. The reason being a very unfortunate licensing deal. Only Hasbro can produce Marvel vinyl figures so Funko uses the bobblehead thing as a loophole. Same case with Star Wars. I always just tell myself it's better than not having these figures at all.

It's a licensing issue with Marvel and I think Hasbro? I can't remember if it's Marvel or SW that Hasbro has the rights to make action figures and to get around that, they make them bobbleheads. (And in SW case, they have the removable base.) But yes, technically all Marvel Pops (and mystery minis) are bobbleheads.

All marvel and Star Wars pops are bobble heads. It has to do with the product licensing because other companies have licensing agreements with them for figures of a certain size. Pops are too close to action figure size.

Yeah, this is really exciting, see the royal family in live action is going to be so cool.

Recently I found this:
"ABC, IMAX and Marvel Television also intend to work together to create a joint marketing and promotion plan for the series across their proprietary media platforms--which would be the first such cross-platform marketing launch of a television series. Today’s agreement also marks IMAX’s first time as a financing participant in a TV pilot and series." Marvel.com

Could this plan of marketing and promotion includes the license to make figures like the pops for this show? :compress:

I'm excited about this show, but I'm concerned that it could mean the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

That's fabulous! I usually miss the first week or two of the latest cartoon to come out - but it'll be harder to miss if it's hitting IMAX! And yes, surely we'll have loads of pops for this, with the attention IMAX will draw, right? Right??!?!

I'm always concerned about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but surely they wouldn't do something terrible to a show that's had Pops coming out this year? They just released the Daisy pop this year - I feel like that has to be an indicator of good things!

If inhumans gets a full pop line I will riot.

We get one AOS pop a year ( last year we got 2 pops, one was a ride ) people want an actual line and it just doesn't happen for whatever reason. We're still short three members of the original Bus Team. So I guess in another three years we'll have Fitz, Simmons and Ward.

There is a Black Bolt coming in comic form.

MCC tweeted out they were excited about the Inhumans show. I would put $ on them making them. I'll skip the comic Black Bolt and wait for MCU versions.

I definitely think the "InHumans" telelvision series would get it's own line. This show would make for more unique looking POP! designs than the agents.

+2

The comic book version looks cool, but my marvel collection is based on MCU, so i will wait too.
I wonder when we could get some news about the merchandise for the show, hopefully soon (I'm gonna ask to Funko about this on the next twitter Q&A, maybe the give me an answer) :)

Well, to be fair, Inhumans sounds a much more interesting title to sell than Agents of SHIELD. Apart, the Inhumans are more establised characters in comics and source material while AoS technically most of the characters were created for the show with exceptions like Quake, Ghost Rider, Mockingbird and Deathlock.

I don’t know if they will.

I mentioned this in another thread. I think Deluxe is Funko’s workaround for not being able to make Rides for Star Wars. Since they can make Marvel Rides, why would they need to use the workaround? What could they possibly do that wouldn’t be just as good as either a Ride or a 6-Inch?

Yeah, you're right. Why would Funko ever want to make normal human pops. Like, The Blacklist, Golden Girls, Duck Dynasty, Clueless, 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Mean Girls, Friends.

That would be a stupid waste of time

Not necessarily, most of the shows that you mentioned impacted in diferent ways to the people, for example, after all this time Friends still has impact on the people and they still love the series. If it was a waste of time do normal human pops we didn't get all te series that you mentioned and pops like Jessica Jones.

Maybe I didn't explain well. AoS is still a good show with cool characters, humans or not, but for some reasons the show didn't have a good support on merhandise as it deserves it. For example, we did get some cool inhumans characters (like Lincoln, Slash and others) on Season 2 and 3 and from all of they, we only get a Quake (which is awesome), and after almost 4 seasons, we haven't get pops for Fitz, Simmons, Ward, Mockingbird...And why? Maybe the series itself didn't impact so much on people (even that the show was renewed for 4 seasons during this time) or MAYBE (as an actress on the show told time ago) Marvel doesn't care much on the series as others, I don't know how a license gets negociated, but a show that have been improved since the second part of Season 1 deserves more of what it deserved, not only talking about pops, also talking of hig detailed collectibles, action figures and others.

Now, getting back to the Inhumans show's topic, this shows looks to have an all new way to premiere, do a worldwide IMAX release for the first two episodes as a movie and for two weeks, this is something really big and is a big opportunity to the collectibles companies do something really cool to help on the promotion of the show (thinking that the license will be selled to companies as part of the marketing plan). Technically, this is getting a movie threatment, so maybe will be get more merch that AoS got. :)

PD: Still i want an aoS Ghost Rider, he's awesome :D

Are they showing up in NYC? I could grab a Kamala. Not really into Scarlet Spider but will probably pick one up for trade bait, since i want a Target Astral Dr. Strange. I'm nowhere near a target.

This sucks only because it means there's very little hope for an Iceman Pop. Still hoping for a Blackbird Pop Ride! I'll only be disappointed in a Logan with a motorcycle Ride.

well this saves me $30, not a bad deal for folks that like rides but the fact that there is one pretty much guarantees the Pop won't be anybody I care about.
