I bought mine from Icemanfan44, who got it from someone named Mike.
I don't know much either, but he sent me this link...

I'm pretty sure I remember reading the one with the blue metallic base and pink metallic sign came from Toy Fair in Dallas one year. It's puuuuurdy.

Yeah i would love to own the POP one, but apparently its limited to 12. So probably out of the question.

You've pretty much summed it up. He was a store display piece to promote the Wobblers and the first large piece as other characters in that size (over 12") wouldn't appear until 2006. I suspect more Funatics than stores purchased the Freddy display Wobbler.

It's a great piece to own, but when shopping for one ask to see if it has a lean and how much. Lots of these large wobblers tend to have a lean that may or may not bother you

Re: Can someone give me a history lesson on this piece?
I actually ended up buying the one in the picture and thankfully it doesn't lean, because that would seriously bother me. I did notice that some of the glue connecting the feet to the base is compromised but its still holding up, if any more glue wears out, it looks like a simple enough super glue job. But i really like this piece its really fun to push the tips of the crown and watch him bobble.

The lean can get pretty serious. The one I have has a slight lean but I have seen others that are pretty bad.

Re: Can someone give me a history lesson on this piece?
I just got one of these gems today and I LOVE him, however I was wondering if someone could shed light on what the little indentation on the base is for?
I know they were intended as store displays and thought maybe the indentation was designed to hold two wobblers on an angle perhaps?
If there is another suggestion for it or if someone knows for sure I'd love to hear it?

My guess is that that was reserved for tips, kind of like those donation/tip trays that you see at 7-elevens and liquor stores.

I am so happy I came across this post. I was lucky enough to be able to stumble across one for sale at a Toy Show today. Picked it up without hesitation. That being said, I knew it was a store display... but not that it was 1/100.

I also have one and love it to bits, but until I find some sort of confirmation, I refuse to believe they are limited to 100 pieces.
If someone has such a source, please, feel free to provide it for us! That would only make a cool piece even cooler!

I got this one back in 2002 when someone local was selling an extra on the WobbleWorld board. That person turned out to be Capt Chuck and we've been friends ever since.
