Pop! Boardgames?

Postby abarreloflols » Mon Oct 30, 2017 9:59 am

So I was brainstorming today and I came up with an idea!
Since Funko now has the licence for Monopoly why not take it all the way, with all board games, so here's what I'm thinking
It would be a massive Pop! sized monopoly board, with a line to match, the dog, car etc Pop! Vinyl's (and Dorbz?) that you can use as peices, or alternatively you could use any of your other pops (or Dorbz?) as the peices, this could extend out too, Cluedo, Game of life, the list goes on, could be a really exciting way to extend on the brand and the fun of collecting.

I think pint size heroes would be the best choice as game pieces.

That's true, but would be cool to allow people to use whatever they collect, I guess if you squeeze it on it will work haha

I think they could go far with this line, if it starts off well, they could have further exclusives where he has a wad of cash, he is in a prison uniform or bankrupt, I feel like they would wait and see how well the original sells, we can only hope.

I think if it's something people want then why not, there would be a lot of people willing to buy into something like this

Just follow the Monopoly Man POP trend and make POPs for...
Clue
Monopoly Tokens
Stratego Mystery POPs (chase - the Bomb)
Chess Pieces
Mouse w/cheese (Mouse Trap)
Life POP Ride
Operation Patient (store exclusives for various issues)
Battleship POP Ride

I'm not sure the rights go back and forth like that. Funko has the ability to use the specific character license, but idk if Funko traded theirs off to Monopoly too.

IDK how i'd feel about this, as there really isn't a "world" that you'd be able to make for the game. Is there a reference from an older game that doesn't use specific things? I guess you could just have it be like... Funko stylized and use new pieces.....

That's actually a pretty cool idea, pieces are perfect for a game. Prob not Pops due to size but def Dorbz.

There's most likely a license restriction in place so that Funko can only make the figure and not a board game. Awesome idea, but it'd have to be a custom if we were ever going to see it

Now imagine if those game pieces were usable with their own in-game stats for a Funko game.

I think integrating Funko pieces into boards games would be a cool and clever concept but I unfortunately feel like board games are a dying breed. It saddens me to say this since I love classic games like, Clue, Monopoly, Life, Mouse Trap, Candyland.

It seems that our future generation has lost touch of anything physical for a game and prefer a handheld electronic game or gaming console over the physical game itself.

What a great idea. They should definitely do this! I think pint size or even dorbz would be good pieces. Monopoly or Clue would be awesome and Candy land too if they make Candyland Pops, Dorbz, or Pint size to go with it!

Hmm maybe I'll have to get creative and make my own, Board would have to be oversized to fit Pop's but would be an interesting new idea, and I'm sure if it was more of a team up with Hasbro sort of thing rather than licencing then it could work.
I mean if they wanted could take it even further and make the spaces slots and release different versions, like Pop! Monopoly Marvel pack that comes with Vinyl peices you slot into the spaces, then you use your favourite marvel characters to suit, prison becomes The Collectors collection stuff like that, Harry Potter version is Askaban, I'm just brainstorming here, possibilities are endless

fun rule even, whoever plays as Mr. Monopoly gets the be the banker haha

They could have fundays themes or events or trivia. Funko has alot of history so they could totally have fun with it. Might have to be a mix of normal board and random funko themed squares

i think a more accurate "game" would be if they give you a paper shredder with freddy's face and mouth on it and you just put money into it because i feel like all im doing is feeding the beast known as Funko with my money.

Might be kind of cool to have some of the people of the old candyland board. There were a lot of cool characters on there and it would be tough to find someone that had never played candyland.
