I really don't think so. It seems to be an acquired taste. I liked a few of the larger ones, but not the prices they were selling for.

I wish they had more of a following, some pieces are super cool, some pieces I pass on.

I agree. I think they should be around that $40 price point. There are some really cool color ways though.

Not sure if Hikari will " Blow Up" or not. I can say as a new collector that I love them and I have collected quite a few so far. Regardless what they do I will enjoy these treasures for years to come

Trying to keep up with Pops, Dorbz, Minis and Hikari's it's very hard. I've got like 30 Hikari but as new pops and minis come out weekly sometimes daily. Personally I had to sacrifice 1 of the 4 greater evils and Hikari was chopped. Now I buy a Hikari maybe once or twice a year depending on if it's a great sale! Does not mean I like em any less. Just the price tag is what pushes me away.

Really hard for Hikari to blow up because of the price point but agree with the fact that some of them are awesome!

There is a remote possibility of the the Hikari XS becoming popular due to the smaller size and lower price point. I myself am really enjoying the Marvel ones being released recently.

I think they do this more for Brian's fascination with pulled plastic. I doubt the line will ever truly take off like Japanese vinyl as its to mainstream. the kaiju that people like is just so of the wall and original. Why pay for a super deformed figure when you can get a accurate version

To be honest I don't think they'll pop off, they're very distinct. I like them though.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to find the older Hikari stuff? I’ve been looking around for the tmnt stuff but haven’t had any luck.

Check Gemini. I believe they may still have some of those on clearance.

Second this, Gemini has some great deals right now and you can almost always find a few Hikari bargains on eBay.

I think they are greatly done, what pushes people away I think is the initial price point. That's why Pops are kinda king right now.

Hikari style, packaging, scale, and materials can be successful, but I thinks its strongly based on design of the characters. Loved the early Hikari designs: spidey, tmnt, transformers. Some other characters just dont look appealing to me. Pricepoint is important too.

They start to grow on you! I mean, I only collect the Disney characters but they're pretty cool.
I was never really interested in them before now either, but lately the Hikari’s, The Wobblers, the other funko lines have started to grow on me.

The Hikaris are too big and costly, if they could make them the same size and about the same price as pops I can see them doing well

Re: Anybody Think Hikari will Blow up?
I just bought my first Hikari recently. It's the black and gray Optimus Prime. I got it because it looks like the scene where he dies in Transformers the (G1) Movie.
I hope my Hikari doesn't self-destruct @___@

I think the XS could see moderate popularity, but that's about it.

The more I collect pops, the more Hikari appeals to me. Just worried that the older SW ones will be impossible to get

Hikari seems to be Funko's response to the Bearbricks in a way, they kind of compete with the Kidrobot vinyls too

Be cool if they came out with a wooden Hikari of some sort or some glass Hikaris. Of the Mini Hikari size.

i agree... the reason why pops! are so popular is due to they are affordable and more people can afford to collect them. I also don't think the Hikari have the same appeal. I prefer the more life like paints fo the figures... however some of the figure like the Matte Black Boba Fett are really cool.

Hikari sculpts can be really beautiful. Some of the colors and designs are really quite striking. But agree that the price point makes them slightly more difficult to really build into a functional addiction. Lol

Being bigger then also take up a lot more space... so they may not be as displayable.

Re: Anybody Think Hikari will Blow up?
I'll be honest, I invested in Groot (the 5000pcs) for my ex...
Told myself, what a waste of money!! Seriously.. after taxes, $85, and its now worth $20-30 range? man... speaking of taking a total loss.
Then I heard (this was awhile back mind you) Hot Topic will be releasing Captain Phasma, LE of 100, Meltdown...
I was like whoa, 100 pieces? Plus its Star Wars? Captain Phasma? Good looking too... winning!
I did sure enough invested in it, !

Agree with most above price is too high don’t think hikari will blow up at this time the new Smaller ones I think are decent maybe Funko should have rolled them out that way and they would have picked up some steam...

the new small ones are great, perhaps funko can experiment with even smaller ones, perhaps mini sized. what i life about hikari is the super bright colorways and the feel of the special vinyl they use

No I don’t think they’ll blow up. They had their chance and never happened. Some people do love them. I’m not one. I think the cost could be a factor as well.
