I don't think Chris Rock was in the movie.

No problem, would've posted a photo but had to find a URL for it (old photo).

But maybe Brooks could renegotiate not with Lucas but with Disney? LOL!!! A girl can dream of the possibilities

I couldn't agree more!

Not gonna happen. Mel Brooks is a total old school, hand-shake deal, type of person. He sought approval from George Lucas BEFORE even making Spaceballs. It's been more than 30 years and outside of movie posters (which were only sent to theaters) and home video releases, there has literally been zero Spaceballs merchandise (well, there's some, but it's all bootleg stuff - nothing officially licensed). Pretty much guaranteed that there was language somewhere in the contracts for Spaceballs that legally prevents it from EVER happening and no doubt carries over to any new owners/holders of the Spaceballs franchise.
Don't mean to be a dream crusher for everyone. I'd LOVE for Funko to do Spaceballs anything (except Mystery Minis because they seem set on continuing these ridiculous, fan hating, ratios), but it's just not going to happen. There's about a billion times more chance of them getting the license to make Nintendo Pop!s than there is for them being able to do Spaceballs and Nintendo basically doesn't license their characters to anyone.
So, if ya'll really want Spaceballs Pop!s, you should probably hire someone to make customs 'cause if you're waiting for Funko to be able to make them, you'll be waiting forever.

Definitely not the news I wanted to hear, but thanks for the thorough description. Love me some spaceballs, but can definitely see merchandising legality troubles, even with the merch jokes in the movie haha
