Pops that speak

Postby mongoose12 » Tue Jun 11, 2019 1:38 pm

Since we're seeing pops with lights, how would you reactive to pops that make sounds or speak? I could imagine specific characters saying famous catch phases and what not.

Would inbox collectors even care since they won't open and press the sound button? lol

It sounds like a great idea but once the batteries start to die in them they sound warped and disturbing.

I could see Funko making these. Still could be for in box collectors by having a hole in the plastic so you could press a button inside and to hear the sound.

They could come on a base like Star Wars pops and use watch batteries that are replaceable.

For me it would depend on price point. I probably would not pay too much more for a feature I’d rarely use.

This is the only way I could see these working.

Unless it was close to the same price as regular pops I don’t see a lot of people buying these. It’s just not something that is going to be used enough to justify paying a lot extra for. :-/

I believe there was already something like this that was released before, not a Pop though.

It was Ted (Bear Movie) Talking Wacky Wobbler.

I do not think it will have to be same price but close to maybe 15.99. There are some pops I would love to say a catch phrase.

MY Hero like Deku saying Plus Ultra or Detorit Smash
Pikachu Saying Pikachu lol
Hulk saying hulk smash
and so on and so on.

If they had some kind of sensor that would trip the sound effect that you could toggle on and off, that would be cool.

I was never much of a fan of these types of toys. The sound quality and repetitiveness of them are a little creepy.

Some times these extra features just seem too gimmicky to me. They just announced the new batman and commissioner with the bat signal which lights up. This is cool, however I think the design of it could have looked even cooler if they did not have to plan wiring, battery pack, switch etc into the light.

It would come down to price point and very select situations would cause me to buy them. I don't think I'd use the feature very often other than to show people that came to visit. Pokemon would be cute but i think it would get old quickly.

I would not be interested in these. I had a Star Wars Darth Vader toy that would randomly make saber noises when the batteries were low, kept waking me up

I like the idea just don't want to deal with the battery erosion since I know I'll forget I had batteries in it.

There are talking Wacky Wobblers so I'm sure Pops could work too. I don't know if the size difference would be a problem though.

As neat as it could be, probably too much for production costs to what retail would be for people to buy.
