Re: Pop! Cosmetics
I know social media is going insane right now, but that is nothing new. Here are my thoughts...
Funko is probably reaching the top of their growth curve (or maybe not who knows) and when that happens companies typically will release a bunch of new products to try and keep that growth going. Funko also knows a large percentage of their audience is females so this makes sense IMO. I would also imagine this isn't a significant deal from a money standpoint so there is little risk in it for Funko.

I'm curious if Funko Fans will collect these even if they are non-makeup wearers.
Personally, I won't be adding these to my collection.

I think it's a fun idea - I did a little research on Taste Cosmetics and they state they don't test on animals so that's a plus for me. A lot of their products are flavored too - I wonder if the lip glosses will be. I can just see the evil queen's tasting like apple or something like that

Agree with you on this one. Plus, I think the strategy on doing such is too just let more people know about Funko, especially of the different market segments, with the long term intention to eventually lure them into collecting the toys.

Hmm, I'm on the fence with this one. I'm not THAT into makeup and what I do wear is typically natural looking or over the top for costume/effect. I don't foresee myself picking this up down the road but who knows!

I don't know much aboot cosmetics but i know there are some collectible ones out there so it seems like a smart-ish play, Urban Decay had a cool little set up at Wondercon this year with their GOT line and gave away some cool pins!!

Re: Pop! Cosmetics
I was reading about this today. Bundle the make up with limited Pops and all of a sudden guys will be going into Ulta to buy make up just to get the Pop. But then what would we do with the make up? Give it away on the boards or in the FB groups? We shall see

Re: Pop! Cosmetics
There seemed to be some over the top reactions on social media (jumping the shark, stupid, stay in you lane, etc) but... it's fine? Right?
It's collectible packaging at the most...fun with colours and themes/licenses for the make-up, which I know I've seen before. Just some Funko styling for anyone interested in it.
Just more fun... it's what they do!

This is definitely true, but I also think they're trying to capitalize on market trends. Nerdy palettes have been pretty popular lately. We both know Funko has tried to break out into other markets (salt+pepper shakers ) and has always bounced back to Pop or some other vinyl, so I'm curious what will happen in a few years.

agree 100% I rarely wear make-up and when I do it is very natural looking.
I would be interested in some nerdy/geeky nailpolish

I'm not big in to wearing make up as well, but depending on what the cost is, I'd consider getting something from the Ursula set.

I have a friend who isn't into pops so much, but nerdy nail wraps, leggings, and makeup is right up her lane. If there was a con exclusive Funko/cosmetic offering we'd both make an effort to visit it.
But really all Funko has to do is announce some limited number and people will want it

Saw this in the official Funko page, thoughts on this?
Not surprised at all, companies are willing to try and see if collectors/fans will collect outside of the realm if its of interest(Tie in Disney characters/license). Seen it with the upcoming Game of Thrones make-up at WonderCon this past year. Marvel & Disney has done several times putting in their characters on shampoos, soaps, toothpaste.

Hmm.. what a coincidence! I watched a short documentary about disney bounding. I guess this is the market they’re trying to take and probably the reason why they started with disney villains.
Hope the pigments, the colors and the longevity do well.

It’s an interesting move, I have a few friends who are excited about this and through all the jokes and criticism on social media I do see a handful of people excited. Being Disney I think it will do at least reasonably well.

I am a makeup junkie - in addition to my pops and other toys - and saw these when a friend sent me the post. I took one look, thought it was a joke at first, and then went "NOPE" when I realized it was no joke. It's cute - sure. As much as I love Funko, I'm sorry but the $ I spend on makeup is put towards actual makeup/skincare brands.

I think these are pretty dope. Odd area to get into, yes, but I love making boring old makeup products into something fun. For example, there's an It Chapter Two licensed makeup palette Each of the circles are balloons. There's even a beauty blender and the packaging makes it look like a balloon. I don't even wear makeup and I want it! We need more stuff like that.
Hiya, I'm Julie Bove! I'm an It fanatic and completist as well as an artist that frequently creates Funko and pop culture-related pieces. Check them out on my social medias: https://linktr.ee/yeetgrimes
