Funko Fabrics

Postby cheezmo619 » Sun Mar 01, 2020 9:24 pm

So this idea dawned on me today when I asked some fellow collectors what they thought. So basically how cool would it be if Funko made their own fabric rolls with Funko designs on them to promote creativity. Pick a roll of fabric with your favorite design and make something like a shirt, shorts, scrubs (for all you nurses wink wink), a flag, or even some boxer shorts. This would also be pretty cool if you were able to do this and wear at Fundays. Just a thought.

Great idea, but I think one of the closest that we have so far is the Tony the Tiger Pop Blanket.

I'd say that the biggest problem for something like this would be someone taking it and making something questionable in some way. People can do that with shirts or Pops or whatever, but when the whole purpose of the product is to make something new, it's harder to distance yourself from what is created from it.

Just showing off a blanket my wife made for me. She just grabbed a whole bunch of glams and made a collage then uploaded to a website that made blankets.

Good idea, but I'm not sure how Funko feels about potential reselling of their product for profit. They're pretty chill on customs as long as they are marketed as such, but I know they've cracked down on artists who've used Freddy and other things.

I guess the way I see it is if Disney can make it work, which to me is maybe one of the most heavily monitored brands out there, Funko should be able to make it work. A lot of licensed fabrics also have copyright/trademark notices printed in the selvage to prevent use outside of individual home use, which must help protect the company a bit but still gives us crafty people something neat to make things with.

I'm not against the idea at all though...I just wonder if this is something that Funko thinks about.

I think it's a neat idea. As mentioned, it would be hard for Funko to control individual's "creativity"

It is a fair point! :) I’d imagine if the possibility of going down this road ever has or ever will come up it’ll be something they consider.

I like this idea Cheezmo. Although I have been waiting on my Funko Boxers for sometime now. I'd settle the onesies with a flap in the back.

I would totally make a fanny pack, or some type of bag pack. Maybe a sling backpack or even a satchel.

Hi, I'm Alex. I started collecting Funko in 2016, and love Wacky Wobblers, Hikari, Pop!, and Spastik Plastik! I love superheroes, basketball, collecting, drawing, and having fun. I also love attending conventions like E3, LACC, and DesignerCon.

I’ve always wanted to make my own hat or jersey but there aren’t enough patches. I’ve thought about getting a custom one made but I don’t even know how to go about designing one. I have an idea in my head.

Yeah! I remember seeing them on documentaries a while back.

I hope this does become standard at large gatherings, specially conventions. I average about 3 conventions a year, and I would like if these events were cleaner or at least smelled better.

I dig the ideas all around, and they make sense. Just have to make them a bit more specific, like the NYC Cop Freddy.
