they did it for one of the 8 million Deku figures, just the cross on his head glows.

not sure, but i'm trying to meet you glow freaks half-way here, why you gotta give me a hard time?

i'm not against glow when it actually works, same with flocked or even in very rare occasions metallic. My issue is they overuse them in places where they simply don't fit. I'd honestly prefer if they just wouldn't do a chase at all if they can't come up with one that actually fits the character, granted that opinion puts me square in the minority.

Great list! I know they are slowly running out the G1 Transformers which is exciting. I would love for Silver Hawks but you missed on M.A.S.K. and the Real Ghostbusters. Overall those that list would be perfect.

I wonder how long until we start seeing some wrestling, wrestlemania would be an obvious great time for them.

they've done plenty of Soda based off pops with little to no value, so i don't think that's much of a factor.

On point there, popularity would be more of a factor.
Dsho333 wrote:
Don't popularity and value go pretty hand in hand if they have only produced 2 pops? Look at Johnny Bravo and Dexter, both released around the same time as Jonny quest, but valued like 5 times more, meaning to me, much more popular.

not really, secondary market value isn't really something companies take into account. the Quest stuff sold out on Funko's end, so that is mainly what they care about.
Dsho333 wrote:
They definitely take it into account, if not they would be fools. Look through the funko app at the vaulted pops. Funko has been vaulting properties that didn't sell well, marking they probably won't make anymore from that license. Funko doesn't inherently care about the secondary market in terms of values but they certainly care which pops people are willing to pay more for or which characters sell better. Just because something initially sells well doesn't mean it's long term is great, clearly the case with Jonny Quest, big hype pieces but no long term demand. Tells me that a bigger line/ more wouldn't necessarily do well.

vaulting has nothing to do with secondary market either, it just means that don't produce items that don't move as well. plus it is a way to artificially create a sense of urgency in the collector. it's most famously the reason why Beanie Babies saw their ridiculous climb, they were a brand nobody cared about until at one toy fair when asked about a certain plush the seller said it had been "retired" instead of simply discontinued, this semantic answer created an air of rarity that was not seen before in the product.
but more specifically to Mr. Quest, Brian loves old HB, it's his thing. He will continue to make them if they are big hits or not.
heymrosario wrote:I know some Marvel/Avenger Soda's are starting to surface, but I definitely want Funko to continue adding more Avengers characters. It's definitely a must for me to complete the set.
Dsho333 wrote:
Your first sentence contradicts itself. Look up the rage 2 pops, they are super low valued and have been vaulted. Beanie babies was before true internet knowledge existed. The retiring effect was definitely a way to drive sales, but like you said, the company doesn't care about the secondary market... So which is it? Also beanie babies never had known piece counts, they could just say it's super rare with no one really knowing.
I know Brian likes the HB stuff but if it doesn't sell, that doesn't justify paying for licenses just because, he is a smart business man, I'm not saying the sodas will never happen, it's just interesting we haven't gotten a common release if it sold so great.

Yeah. That Iron Man especially was great looking. I think Captain America would be coolest one to do next. Unmasked or maybe metallic elements to it
Mr Yac wrote:
i don't see how it contradicts itself at all, they don't want to keep producing stuff that isn't selling and is clogging up shelves. yes, it's partially true that as a "collectible" company they want their items to appear collectible to the people and using the arbitrary term like "vaulting" gives it that impression over simply discontinuing an item, but they don't care if your pop is worth $1 or $10,000 on eBay after it's out of their hands. and again, Johnny Quest DID sell, he and Hadji sold out pretty quickly if memory serves, so i'm not sure where the argument really is against them.
Dsho333 wrote:
Saying they will vault items that won't sell well but saying they don't care about the secondary market is contradictory. Once a store has the pops, it is considered the secondary market as Funko has made their money irregardless of if it sells or not.

oh well, i see what you're getting at. i disagree, but i get it. so we shall agree to disagree on this one friend, but we shall agree that they need to stop making common soda with such high numbers

I wouldn't say they vault stuff specifically on it not selling well, it could be tied into the license agreements also for the line or character.

i don't know how it works, but when i see just a random piece like Tenya or Law getting vaulted and nobody else from the wave or the series at all it makes me think there is something behind the reasoning.

Agreed. I feel like if they do make Buffy Soda, I'll need doubles — 1 to display, 1 to re-enact scenes from the show
