Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Hello,

I am new here so if this is not the appropriate place to post questions like this then I apologise.

I have been looking around and cannot find any information about The Dark Crystal series/line I am really looking forward to this series. Please tell the series/line is still being done? I really hope so... it will be so upsetting if they aren't... :( as I am really looking forward to them.

Hey Reis,

Will there be a version of Captain Cold reaction with his hood up? How come he was sculpted hood down? How are decision like this made?

Any plans to do Canary, Trickster, Arsenal, or any other characters from Arrow and Flash?

Don't worry! Dark Crystal is still on the short list! We're just trying to get them onto the sculpting schedule. We have so much product coming out right now, that some projects with looser release dates (meaning that they don't have an upcoming movie release or new TV season starting) are getting bumped a little.

Haha! I get this question a lot. When we started designing the figures for the Flash TV show, we hadn't even seen Captain Cold yet (it was before the show started), and when we requested images of some of the bad guys, the image they sent us of Captain Cold was from that first episode where he's wearing that button down shirt and tie and in a blue trench coat. By the time the figures were in production, the show had started and we finally got to see Cold's hooded coat look and we were like, "Gah! He only wears that suit and tie for one scene!" Oh well, that's the trouble with making toys before a movie or TV show is released.

As long as the Flash and Arrow figures sell well, we'll make more characters in a second series. I'm hoping for a Felicity Smoak. ;)

Definitely a felicity would be great I might be able to convert my daughter with that figure!!

Oh good. So awesome to hear they are sill coming. :D I don't mind having to wait a bit longer I just really hope they do come. Have all the ideas and or decisions been made yet? I'm probably sure you can't really talk about it but if you can any word on which figured are happening? I am really hoping for a version of Kira with her wings out. Like one version without them and one version with wings extended? That would be so awesome! :) Also of course we need Chamberlain. :)

Thank you for giving an update. I can only hope now that "short list" means it's for sure coming and only a matter of when.

After JAWS and Boondock Saints what are the next series we should be looking out for? Or do we have to wait till after SDCC?

Might be a big enough market in the US, but I would love the proper Avengers - John Steed and Emma Peel :)

Not sure if you're allowed to answer this, but which figures lines have been the most successful? Which ones have been failures in terms of sales? I heard rumors some figures were "rushed" into production, is this true?

I wouldn't say that anything was rushed. We do like to move more quickly than most other toy companies, but none of the ReAction figures were pushed any faster than most products we produce. In terms of sales, I think that Universal Monsters have been the most successful. And I'm not sure if we have any "failures", so to speak, but there have been some lines that sold a little softer than we expected, like Goonies and Firefly. But that's to be expected in the first year of a new toy line. It's all part of the grand experiment.

Definitely, you have to see what you audience is like and see if the interest in a property is as expected or not.

The only reason I ask about if any figures were "rushed" is that it seems that some properties were executed better than others. It could be that some properties were just easier to translate or once again the whole first year of producing figures thing. Looking at the upcoming figures it looks like there are improvements across the board. For instance, the T2 T-800 looks like a big improvement over the T-800 figures currently out there.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! :)

Well, that's just the natural progression of any new product line. I mean, compare the latest iPhone to the one before it and it's clearly better. Compare it to the first iPhone and it looks lightyears different!

In that first wave of ReAction figures, we were still figuring out the look and feel of things. As we progressed, we learned a lot. We listened to what people were saying, what they thought could be improved. We also had to figure out how much detail we would lose once we hit the plastic and paint stages. We played with proportions a bit. We tried new factories to see if they could help up improve. All of which has gotten us to where we are now.

I'm glad to see that people are seeing the improvement! :)

Hi Reis,

How far is the 'longlist' behind the short list? Are we talking years apart or months?

And potentially how many figures/licenses make it to the shortlist at any given time?

Thanks

The longlist basically means that we have the license and can do it. It doesn't mean that we will, necessarily. But they are definitely in the running and would be a more "next year" kind of thing. The short list means that it is in some stage of production (or pre-production), meaning that we've at least concepted it or about to concept it before the year is out. Things can get bumped off of the shortlist to the longlist for various reasons and at short notice. They can also get cancelled altogether, but that's rare. And the number fluctuates.

Thanks for the response Reis.

Also I'm curious. A few times I've seen you guys toss out the answer 'we have no plans for X character or property' and I wonder if you mean that in the way "Hasbro" always used that line in the past....

They'd say they had 'no plans' to do a particular thing, but it didn't mean they had ruled it out completely, and suddenly lo and behold one day it does feature in their plans... ;-)

Or with you guys does no really mean no...

No means no. For now, anyway. ;)

I mean, nothing is definite, nothing is absolute. Things change all the time, new licenses become available, public opinion helps us revisit things, etc.

Any chance for a wave 2 or variants/exclusives?

We don't have a full wave of Horror Series 2 releasing all at once, but will just be adding to the Horror line with one-offs here and there. You shouldn't have too long of a wait for Leatherface. ;)

Does this mean that future Horror Series figures are going to be sold 1 figure to a case, as in a store ordering a case would get X number of Leatherfaces per order or will cases be assorted with figures from series 1? I ask because while the Horror figures seemed to sell really well (I've never seen them marked down at retail) I often walked into stores and would find a bunch of Michael Myers or a bunch of Jason. Occasionally I would find a mixture of two or three characters but never a full set. I'm not sure I ever saw Pinhead, The Crow, Ghostface, or Sam at retail. Was series 1 also distributed as one figure to a case? That's different than most other ReAction lines (other than one off lines like Taxi Driver and the Rocketeer) isn't it?

First off everyone good morning

I would like to say I'm very disappointed for being a reaction fan &I have gotten lots of people in to them I really don't see the point anymore I have collected the majority of them but lately I have stop purchasing them because nothing but junk has came out come on breaking bad first not a great show for an a ex addict second so many series that have been coming out are pointless where's Gotham in my opinion it's the best show out plus the flash just saying

Where's the horror series at which in my opinion best that have came out
The munsters , & I want to atleast get a date or approximately around they coming
Out ?

Please do a little better picking the lines cause I'm my opinion again there falling down &I I want this line to live on

Well, that's a good second post. You'll go far here.

They shouldn't make Breaking Bad because there are ex-addicts out there? Is that what you're trying to get across?

Well, maybe they shouldn't make Gotham for fear of offending ex-gangsters.

I think you're confused when it comes to what lines are "good" and what's "to your taste". The figures that have come out in 2015 so far have been some of the best Funko have done thus far.

More Alien figures, Big Trouble in Little China, Arrow, Flash, Boondock Saints, Breaking Bad, Fight Club, Gremlins, Jaws, Star Trek, Scarface, Taxi Driver, Terminator 2, Fifth Element, Karate Kid...what exactly do you want? All of those named are either classic or very popular properties and the figures themselves have improved quite a bit since the first figures hit a year ago.

Collect what you want to and what you like, but don't try to say that something shouldn't be made just because you don't like it. I can't stand Twilight, but if Funko put out ReActions, that would be fine. It would probably be the only property they could do that I would pass on...but it would still be alright.

Lighten up.

I'm not sure if I follow what you're asking, but I imagine that we'll be handling the additions to the Horror series as one-offs, like Taxi Driver or Scarface.

I would LOVE to do Battle of the Planets, but thet'll probably never happen. And I can't comment on our upcoming plans for GoT just yet. Soon, hopefully. :)

Any chance for a wave 2 or variants/exclusives?

Probably no series 2 for Tomorrowland, although we do have a new Athena coming out soon.

Thank you, that's great! Will it be her modern-day clothes? Or another flashback variant?

Yep, her modern-day clothes. :)

I'm not sure if I follow what you're asking, but I imagine that we'll be handling the additions to the Horror series as one-offs, like Taxi Driver or Scarface.

I think the OP was concerned that if you do a Leatherface figure, he won't be packed in a solid case for stores to order like one-off figures (Rocketeer, Tony Montana, Travis Bickle), but would be packed in with figures from the first wave of Horror figures, making him more difficult to get because of pegwarmers.

Or maybe he wants pegwarmers, I don't know... :D

Ah, got it. No, Leatherface would not be packed in with the first wave of Horror figures.
