Wacky Wobblers: An Unexpected Journey

Postby tylerjd1234 » Thu Aug 22, 2013 7:52 pm

Hi there. The following is a long-winded recollection of my journey that takes a trip from falling in love with one of Jim's banners to owning a few pieces of Funko that I will never let out of my collection... And here we go:

After completing my Star Wars POP collection I got/am very bored in waiting around for the new series to come out... so I decided to browse the boards in search of some cool Funko products to pass the time. Needless to say I was astounded by some of the awesome 'Old School' Funko stuff!

After falling in love with Jim's 'Robot' banner I decided to hunt down what these pieces of Funko were, and to my surprise there was already a thread from someone who had the same idea!

http://www.funkofunatic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=42407

A "Wobble Bot XR-3000" was what I was searching for thanks to Kev's information.. and thanks to the awesome pictures from Bear, Scotty and Justin I also learnt some Funko history about Freddy, cannibal and bone daddy robots too! (I learnt that if I ever got one of these I would die a happy man ;) hahah).

So the hunt was on. There were a few of these Wobblebots floating around the internet, but all of them were from America and shipping was ridiculously high....

But one day on my usual browsing of Funko items on eBay and the likes, I stumbled across an Australian seller who had both the silver and red wobblebots for $15 each plus $8 shipping!

I jumped on that BIN price and started doing a happy dance (More specifically, a Wobbler Waltz :bounce: ). After finally coming to my senses and realising I was at work rather then at home  I calmed myself down and sat there basking in that awesome feeling that comes after hunting down a cool new piece of Funko.

Needless to say I LOVE my wobble bots. I own every Star Wars piece (minus protos :() and a Gemini Clear Freddy, but for some reason these mini Wobble Bots are almost my favourite pieces! Not only do they look great they are another awesome piece of Funko history, and im very glad to have them in my collection. And for all of those that love picture stories, here they are:

4667

And now here is where the normal ending occurs, everyone is happy, the protagonist's hard work and persistence paid off and he got the goods... well not entirely.

After receiving the wobble bots I had a thought of "well if this guy has those cool Funko items, What else is there... ?"

So I casually logged back onto eBay and stalked this guy's store. Not much interesting stuff at all... Scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll...... BINGOOOOO!

A Funko wacky wobbler from 2003 that was of something that appears on the Australian coat of arms!! I HAD TO HAVE IT!

Needless to say I purchased it on the spot without any hesitation, without any research into the piece.

Delighted with my new purchase I came onto the boards and found an old thread that had a nice bit of info in it regarding my new Kangaroo Wobbler..

http://www.funkofunatic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17135&p=222326&hilit=outback+kangaroo#p222326

So that concludes my journey of how this Star Wars POP! collector become entangled in the world of Wacky Wobblers. A big thanks to Jim for his banner that started this all off, as well as a big thanks to Kev for his Funko knowledge on both pieces.

Hopefully you enjoyed this journey as much as I did... and if you didnt, well thanks for reading to the bottom anyways :)

Hope you all have a great weekend!
