The Dark Knight Joker Wacky Wobblers Problems

Postby Bat_Fan » Wed Jan 01, 2014 8:10 pm

I had a few questions about the Dark Knight Heath Ledger Joker Wobblers (Talking purple and Bank Robber). I recently bought them from Amazon for Christmas. Once I received the package I was really excited. Previously, I had a few of the Walking Dead products so I was really looking forward to the Jokers. Upon opening them however, I was a bit disappointed.

The Talking Joker's head just wouldn't wobble. I have a Rick Grimes Wobbler that's perfect, but this one just isn't right. The weight of the head in the back seems to cause it to look straight up? It's really awkward looking. The sound worked and but the thing just would not wobble. The Bank Robber had it's own share of problems. The head was looking to an extreme left and had some of the worst paint applications I've ever seen.

I decided to pursue the replacement option with Amazon, sent the two back and got two new ones just this week . . . and they're even worse. The Talking Joker has all this white residue on the bottom of the base, almost like oily dust or chalk and, while his head wobbles, it's looking into an extreme left. The Bank Robber Joker has even worse paint apps and the head is looking to the far left and doesn't even wobble, like the wire is too tight.

I'm not about to go through the replacement process again with Amazon, so I was just curious, would Funko be able to help me out with this? I know there's no such thing as a perfect collectible but it's sort of disheartening that such nicely sculpted bobble heads seemed to be plagued with Quality Control issues. Is it just me, or is this a common occurrence with these things? Like I said, my prior wobblers had zero problems. Yet these seem to have ridiculously titled heads that don't wobble. I just want a Talking and Bank Robber Joker with good paint apps, a head that's looking straight forward and actually wobbles.

I'd appreciate any help or advice, thanks.

Contact Funko and let them know the problems you've been having. Perhaps Shawndra? Ask her what you should do and tell her to please pass on info to Brian. If he doesn't know he can't fix it. Besides, it may give him another reason to fly to China.

Well you can at this point fix it yourself: boiling water will loosen any glue holding the spring on and you can reset it. Paint can be fixed with a steady hand.
Return them rather than replace them and then head to a store and pick it out yourself. Online retailers buy so many pieces they're not gonna check them. If you're concerned about paint, pick it out in person. If you absolutely can't do that order them online from smaller stores. Places like Fugitive Toys have good reputations for both checking quality themselves and actually helping customers (unlike Amazon)
And keep in mind at their core these are under $20 toys made in China. There's gonna be paint flaws. Unless you wanna start paying a lot more for the pieces then the paint flaws are gonna be there.

JUST TURN THE SPRING ON THE NECK (BODY) SO IT IS STRAIGHT. WAY EASIER THE HEATING OR BOILING. SOMETIMES PAINT LOTS JUST SUCK, LAW OF CHANCE

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, stores like FYE, Hot Topic, Toys R Us, etc don't carry any of the Dark Knight Joker bobble heads like they do of other licenses, so online is my only bet.

I saw the advice of turning the head on another thread and tried it myself. It only seems to rotate left, not right and the bobble gets lost with each turn. I know they're just $12 bobble heads, but I'd atleast like them to look and function like they're supposed to. I was actually surprised by these two after the Walking Dead ones I have. The Joker's paint apps seem simple for the most part, I don't see how they got so sloppy. Then the actual heads being turned and lopsided seem odd considering the head is the most important part of a bobble head.

I've used pliers to pull the tip of the spring up allowing you to rotate it in the opposite direction. The little curl at the end of the spring is there to keep the spring from reversing directions and coming off. So you if lift it up, you should be able to get it back to the correct spot and still have it bobble correctly.
