Fun of One NYCC

I'm very grateful that this is in play for NYCC. Ones and anomaly, twos a trend. With this, I'm hoping that every future show offers this as an opportunity to get more folks to experience these tremendous cons.

Pulling a 1:1 NFT/Pop! would be a Funko collector’s dream come true. At the same time, I don’t fault the last winner for selling it. There’s a good chance someone pulls it from the Cartoon Network drop and has no intention of going to NYCC; at that time, you can’t blame someone for getting what they can for it considering how valuable it is.

They are two separate events where-in Mask o Raid is mainly a Mike Becker charity event.

You are correct, i was just saying maybe Mike or Funko decided to do the Mask raid in San Diego instead of doing the fright night because of cost? It could be cheaper to do the Mask o raid in California instead of doing an event in New York. Funko has a warehouse in San Diego i think as well as the their main warehouse being in AZ but logistically help instead of having everything shipped to New York? Just a thought. However, with Mike leaving even Mask o Raid may not happen this year either?

The Mask o Raid event has nothing to do with Funko per se. It is a personal initiated charity event done by Mike in partnership with Comic Con Museum - so its always in San Diego.

With Fright Night 2, it was more of reviving the one-off event held in 2016* to be a Fundays in the east coast type of thing (but if you did attend that year, you will surely know that cost is high - there were no chairs, no food etc for the whole event). So, this was probably the main hurdle in doing Fright Night again at NYCC - as venue costs probably are much more higher in NYC.

*Fright Night 1 that happened during 2016 at San Diego.

I think the Fun of One concept is a frantastic (that was a typo, but is too perfect to correct. ) idea overall. I think they should start doing more one-off things in the NFTs. Protos (like the Fun of One), front-of-the-line access at cons, whatever event is happening... Just more stuff to get people excited beyond the NFT drop. I'm sure a lot of packs will be bought this time purely for the shot at hitting (even if they didn't care about the specific drop).

More info to come but by the way they are making it seem, it looks like transportation and tickets provided. Maybe due to not having an event they will accommodate them at the show instead

They should do a proto winner for every drop, or maybe each redeemable has a proto figure given away as well

It didn't for the Funime set though - once the Mythic packs sold out and the Fun of One was pulled early there were a lot of packs left sitting. If it's pulled early this set as well, then packs will probably sit again.

That could make it easier to acquire for those not going to NYCC. I’m hoping for a box, but can definitely see it as a limited piece at the booth as well.

I thought the fun of one added to the drop was awesome. To bad I didn't like the drop that much otherwise I'd try my hand at it. However like I said it's a great concept

I know that I regret not paying 1200 for a ticket. I was bummed out in San Diego because i didn't attend Fundays. Hopefully they get Mike to do Fundays again, the thought of him not doing it just doesn't seem right.

It's expensive to fly to US he, he needs to pay hotel and accommodation plus you never know if there is a conflict with work

The first one was pulled by someone in the UK who was not going to SDCC already, so them selling makes sense to me. But I agree, I would never sell. I don’t think the $1500 would even cover the flight and hotel (NYC hotels were always expensive but now that Air BNB is basically outlawed, rooms have gone up) so maybe the person who sells just can’t afford to cover the rest and will sell.

I am actually surprised they don’t list booth access as one of the prizes.
