Star Wars NFT

I'd be first in line to buy Star Wars NFTs if they ever got released. But I just can't see this happening any time soon. The market uproar this would create just isn't worth the benefits for Funko IMHO. Too many Star Wars fans would riot!

Which i think they most likely will make a ton of packs, same goes if they do a marvel drop. If they do though i hope we get new molds and characters

Do you think they would just do the same 5 or 6 characters throw in some new stuff? The royalty would be interesting, since the just did Freddy Anakin, Stormtrooper, and Chewbacca. Plus the Freddy Darth Vader soda.

Someone speculated that the Marvel trading card collaboration with Upper Deck may have been because Disney wouldn’t do an NFT drop. Not sure if that’s true, but could make sense since we haven’t seen any Disney in 2 years.

There is already leak with Disney so I think that is wrong

The good thing is the Star Wars universe is so big they could do just about anything from the original movies, prequels and sequels. Plus the animated series characters. We still do not have a Pop of Freddy as Darth Vader except for the Fundays soda. I am pretty sure we do not have Freddy as Emperor Palpatine so that also would be great.

I do not see how that is connected because the NFT cards are not physical cards. Disney is doing Lorcana that literally just came out. I am not sure if Disney believes NFTs would conflict with Lorcana in some way but they shouldn't as you cannot physically hold the NFT cards.

My guess on a Freddy for Royalty is Obi Wan Freddy. Vader would be sick but I was thinking since we got the soda we might not see the pop? I'm all in regardless.

I just hope they look at it like that. There are so many characters they have not made and would be a great opportunity for the NFT line. Freddy as Vader pop would be great!

I love the optimism in this, but you have to keep things in mind when it comes the Star Wars and Marvel: the owners of these licenses (Disney) KNOW what they have , and they will make the BEST possible deal and charge the highest possible prices to anyone who would like to make these properties as NFTs. If you are a company like Funko, who is in a period of cost reduction, you can't afford to pay for that type of licensing. Any money you would hope to make would be exceeded by the licensing costs. If it was possible to somehow get these licenses for a reasonable cost... Funko would have done so already. The fact is, Disney can afford to wait for someone else to pony up the ransom .. they hold all the advantage here and they know it.

because Funko can and will sell bigger IPs retail. Where as smaller less known IPs theyll make into NFTs. They would need probably the Disney license to make NFTs for Marvel, and Star Wars. Which is why we only get WB NFTs. So unless bombs keep happening and they need to get better IPs they will probably not spend the money to do that.
