Chase NFTs

Postby araviele » Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:25 pm

I appreciate the addition of glows and some sideways boxes to mix things up in the space but how cool would it be to have chases here. Obviously this isn't a new topic I just think now that we've seen them make some design changes and listen to collectors a little more (think boxes and upcoming protection with shipping) it could be in the cards. Thoughts?

I personally do not want that at all. Sure it would be great if you are the lucky one to pull, but if not then you are left chasing. And that is after chasing the redemption in the first place. Just my thoughts

I feel that. I'm thinking more along the lines of more limited pieces than just the grail. I do like the 999 piece counts (and the one 666) but I think even lower would drive that chase (doesn't necessarily need to be chase pop)

Those redemption is already chase though. It's not that easy to get to be honest. Some people gets nothing for opening packs

With how low count as is. I don't think it would help things. Would makdnit interesting, but then why not just make them their own cards. Would make people buy more packs trying to find that version. But then it would just be another redeemable and doesn't really need the chase sticker.

Wouldn't be a fan. These things tend to be hard enough to get on their own, adding a chase to the mix would just complicate that. Plus, secondary market price would be nuts. I think they pull ratio and designs are enough to get folks in. But if they did it, I'd be excited to see what designs they come up with.

Grail is the ultimate chase. The legendary ones can also be considered chase too.

That would open up a whole can of worms that we don’t need lol

I’d say the Grail of each set is the Chase because the odds of pulling one are a lot lower than the Legendaries.

I actually really like this idea but I agree with others that this would create a big mess and open a web of various issues. I prefer more variety and more variations though. It keeps it interesting and fresh for me.

I guess this could work like TCGs where sometimes a random card is foil, but what purpose would it serve for redeemables? I don't think Funko would put in the effort make a small percentage of them metallic or something (although that'd be kinda cool).

NFTs are already an aftermarket headache so I'd love to avoid chases as much as possible lol

I’d prefer a chance to get a proto over a chance to get a chase. Seems like the chase idea only would benefit the people that get multiples. Still though could be fun.

It would be a little annoying since you have to buy multiple and they do cost a decent amount of money so I’m fine with the glow and metallic they’ve been doing :freddy2:

Yes I wish they reserved the NFT protos for something in the space of NFTs. Like 1 of 1s get a proto of the set or something

I think that's more so what I was looking for. Appreciate the glow/metallic as another user stated. Hope they continue with this trend. (Just don't sacrifice the shipping in lieu of this haha)

Instead of a chase they just need better molds and IPs. If no one is buying now it I think it would hurt them more to make a chase.

I think it would devalue redeemables more than they already are which I don’t want to see. I can already buy legendaries for $20 how much would they be if they were common legendaries

I think the market for NFTs is just so wack right now. People willing to sell something that honestly should be 80-120 is wild. Stats of just pull rates and what you have to spend to get something is just completely forgotten

Personally would not be a fan. I think the NFT thing is its own deal and honestly how would they implement it. Is the thinking that you'll bring in new NFT collectors? I don't think it would. What it would do is spike the secondary market on those chases. Instead, I'd like them to bring back in other Funko items (like Sodas or event Bittys).

What would the chases be for NFT? What would the rate be to regular?

I think seeing the metallic and Glows coming around is nice. It would be great to see some chases start showing up in the lineups.

I could maybe see that if they had a tier of redeemable that had a higher count (maybe 6k redeemed... 5k common and 1k a chase... or possibly 3k -> 2500/500). Not sure it would be worth it for them to have to produce that many pops for the NFTs anyway.

Good point - especially with how some are burning at like 30-40%, with a 1200 max let's say, there would only be a couple hundred chases potentially!
