So incredibly sad. I really hope they can relaunch at some point. The x men animated figures and motu figures are unbelievable. I hope they aren’t finished.

Could not be more disappointed about this and hope changes are made in the future. So many great designs and even greater designers behind them :(

Mondo stuff was always awesome. I really hope there is a plan in this and the people affected are given the ability to still work for the company in some capacity. It's really gut wrenching.

Funko is also known for posters. They probably would continue them. I don’t see why not :dontknow:

I don’t know if anyone follows some of the artists that were in the process of making posters for Mondo. But since the news, they’ve been showing their WIP and what could’ve been-ugh such cool designs. If you wanna look for yourself, search for Matty Taylor or Matt Ferguson on Twitter

They probably did then, trying to expand their audience. Their stock was up, they added warehouses and Etc but now they’re not doing as well. Excess inventory, rising costs.

The layoffs are unfortunate. Can’t imagine they would completely stop making posters though. If anything hopefully they’ll make them easier to get.

Seems like possible misrepresentation in the media. They definitely cut staffing, but doesn't appear to be "the whole poster department".

Nice that it’ll be in San Diego. Wonder if it will be near downtown for events during con. Hopefully quality won’t decrease while increasing quantities.

Yes, I saw the tweet. Hopefully, this means at least in some ways they are investing in the company. Because the other reports didn’t make it would that way.

Mass producing prints means to me there’s no way they’ll be high quality. They won’t be screenprinted. The point of Mondo was limited edition. Not good.

I was thinking the same, Mondo should stay niche. Current screen printing infrastructure is not available for mass production, quality will drop:( With popular artists who have worked with Mondo being very vocal about the situation, they will likely have to source new talent as well.

That's a good clarification from Brian and what I had figured, just reducing headcount but still committed to Mondo. Wouldn't make sense to end the product so quickly. Just got twisted in the media

There was people talking about this on the post, but that is my fear as well. If they are going to increase the number, they won't be able to do screenprinting most likely. Not unless they find another source for it :-k

NOPE.
Artist wont be returning to Mondo, they are fleeing. Funko burned so many bridges.
There is 0 way to ramp up the production that is mentioned in that letter, all printing places are backed up thats why it aready take 6 months to get most Mondo prints already.
Zero chance they open a record pressing plant / venue in San Diego. They are doing mass layoffs and trashing millions of dollars in inventory to cut spending as times are bad....that means they don't have millions to open up a new venue!
Its a bad PR letter, sorry Mike....

I read the letter, still very angry and sad at what has happened and all the bridges that were burned. Seems this is still the end of an era. I’ll be sure to follow the individual artists I like to keep up with their work.

The new store front/record pressing sounds cool, still not loving the amount of bridges Funko has burned recently. Also, collectors like limited pieces, producing more defeats the purpose.

Man. it's super frustrating to see all of the online angst and bad blood surrounding Mondo, artists, Funko, and these layoffs.

I have always been a big fan of what Mondo does. I don't own many posters - but always loved the art and was lucky enough to get a few over the years. I dig the records and figures too.

I wish and hope that they can find a happy medium going forward with the posters and artists. Sell stuff at scarce quantities and for the masses with things like timed releases, etc. But maybe too many bridges have been burned and that model just isn't profitable these days. I don't know the finances behind the scenes to make any judgements.

Disappointing all around. Honestly that PR letter did not help and had more people question the decisions made. It is what it is but they have disappointed a lot of fans and artists alike.
