It will definitely be busier than last year. I think it will all depend on how the strikes play out and also if the hotel situation stays how it is. Sounds like more than normal don’t have rooms
I agree with this as well. Last year was the first time back so we didn’t know what to expect. This year will likely have a return to the typical numbers.
It could be the complete opposite of last year. If all the strikes are still going on during SDCC, the floor might be overloaded without the big panels pulling people away.

There will definitely be a lottery again. That is never going away at SDCC. Vendors may come and go, but the lottery isn't. I've heard that Funko is actually required to participate in it by CCI. It's a mutually beneficial relationship.

Maybe for celebrities and guest, but the actual event itself will 100% be busier, there are people in forums and groups that still do not have a hotel so I honestly feel like it's going to be packed this year.

Yes. I said it’s going to be busier, especially the event floor. I just don’t know what the strikes and hotel situation will do. It will definitely be busier than last year though. That was way too nice to last

I've seen people gobbling up stuff outside the downtown core area which feels a bit a-typical. Like stuff down by the cruise terminal area fills for sure, but slowly. So I think it'll be a busier year!

Hopefully they'll have what you're looking for on the days you are going! Otherwise, there are always lots of people on the forums (and elsewhere) who are willing to lend a hand

Ordinarily, Mondo is one of the last big SDCC vendors to reveal their exclusives -- I'm talking 2-3 weeks (or less) before Preview Night.
As for this year...I think everyone is still in "wait and see" mode at the moment.
Man, I hope mondo is there. really love there set up and the amazing items!

No hotel strikes. There just doesn’t seem to have been as many hotels available this year. The strikes are writers guild and possibly actors and directors. If all of them are still on strike, panels won’t have much footage to show or celebs to promote. That’s why I was saying the floor could be filled to the max this year

Probably due to those years when there were near riots of people trying to get in. They even had a lottery at Wondercon and that is smaller in size than SDCC.

Oh gotcha! You're right, there definitely wasn't enough hotels this year. Hubs and I had to find a random airbnb so hopefully that will be OK.
In regards to footage and stuff, I can see celebs not going, but is it possible that maybe the stuff they showcase would be things filmed in the past or for movies / tv shows that are ready?
If there are less panels, then you're right, show floor is going to a fire hazard

Lottery works best too. We would camp out early, overnight, and be one of the first to get in, and the line would be filled with exhibitors, so I don't want to go back to that

But luckily Funko does a lot of shared exclusives now, so it helps!

It would be for shows/movies that are in the works or airing soon but if they strike they can’t promote at all. They can talk about general topics but not the actual show/movie. I’m not a big panel person, so it won’t affect my con much at all. I do hope it gets worked out though so it does pull people of the floor though.

This is how I feel. What happened to the hotel prices?! Hotels were just so insanely expensive this year that I feel I need to be in my room at night. I used to leave the Marquis at 2-3am to go camp for Funko/Hasbro exclusives before lotteries and I just couldn’t imagine doing that now if I needed to.

If it’s back, it will definitely be in the lottery. The booth did open for general sale at 3pm every day last year if you didn’t win the lottery. I was able to get everything I wanted from Mondo last year because of that. I hope they have way more pins this year

I would LOVE to know what the heck happened to hotels this year; they were an absolute disaster. I didn’t even think of the impact of the WGA strike on the floor. Last year was so nice with less people and now I have a feeling this year, like you said, will be filled to the max

If all of them are still on strike, panels won’t have much footage to show or celebs to promote. That’s why I was saying the floor could be filled to the max this year
I would LOVE to know what the heck happened to hotels this year; they were an absolute disaster. I didn’t even think of the impact of the WGA strike on the floor. Last year was so nice with less people and now I have a feeling this year, like you said, will be filled to the max
I heard some people think that they didn't ask for as many hotels as usual because of last year. So now they are too short. I think there are going to be some that open up closer to the con. Obviously, just a guess. Last year was amazing. It was so nice not having someone shove you every step you took!
