Kermit the Cupcake - Proto?
Need a little help.
Somehow I ended up with a Kermit the Frog Cupcake proto at Fundays. It's kind of cool, but not my style so I'm thinking of offering it for trade or sale.
Getting ready to offer it up, it dawns on me, that this thing is fully painted. I'm looking at pictures online and I see that in most of the glams, the Cupcakes have glittery tops. The Kermit I picked up has a solid green lid.
So, question....has anybody seen a production piece to know if the lids were clear and glittery? Think maybe I somehow ended up with a production piece by accident? Anybody want to trade a Walter, Donny or Jesus proto from Lebowski for it?
Thoughts....opinions?

I think I'm supposed to too. Got it out of the proto basket as it was going around.

Re: Kermit the Cupcake - Proto?
Don't think so. I've looked at the cupcake glams and they all have glitter tops. This one doesn't. Since I don't know if the final release had glitter tops, I'm not sure where this piece fits into the process. I'm thinking that maybe it's a more finished proto than we've seen before, which is kind of cool when you think about it. I don't think it's hand-painted. The mouth is screened on.
For the record, all I'm trying to do is get some clarity on what it is. It was handed to me out of one of the proto baskets, so I assume it's a proto. It doesn't fit my collection, so I'd like to trade it and I don't want to misrepresent what it is for the next owner.
If it's a proto great. If it's a production peice, that's fine, too.
And taking the advice of others, I did lick it. It tasted like Tupperware and did not turn into a wobbler.

I'd lean more towards production pieces if the mouth isn't just painted on.

Maybe pre-production or color reject, your right it has played it part in the production process though

Re: Kermit the Cupcake - Proto?
With the other thread rolling around about creepiest Pop.... I would say this thing is pretty creepy looking itself!
From all the pictures I have ever seen it seems like a pre-production piece to me. I figure they wouldn't have had production pieces in the proto basket so must be some sort of before mass production piece.

I tried looking for a picture of the production piece on this, I can't find one. Maybe Funko never produced this piece.

The Cupcake Keepsake were first revealed at Toy Fair in 2012. They did not originally have glitter tops, so this is probably an earlier version of Kermit.

The final version has the glitter top and was revealed at Toy Fair in 2013.
