Will Funko Rewind survive?

Postby Smileyfig » Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:53 am

:freddy1:

I know with Funko restructuring according to all the articles. Even though they just Released Funko Rewinds, do you think it will be a line that they keep?

Me personally I collect all the Freddy ones, so I hope they keep it going.

I think they will get out some older lines. This one is very new and just now releasing in big box stores. I think it will last for some time. Long term, really depends on how people buy them. I like the Freddys, but the rest are just a little weird pose for me.

They are too close to the soda style for me as I prefer the sodas. I’ll buy a few if they have characters I collect but none I need so far.

I'd imagine if the recent run sells out or does well, they'd commit to more. But if they sit, Funko will move on. But that's just my guess.

I like display look of the nostalgic VHS boxes more than I like most of the figures, with the exception of Freddy. I loooove the little Superhero Freddy and would buy more.

Realistically, it probably won't last. I think the only line that has had any longish life other than Pop is Mystery Mini and even then the releases aren't as often.

Having to fight for marketshare with Pop and Soda seems like a rough prospect.

I've only collected the Freddy and Scooby Doo ones. I like them, but there are other figures that look a little weird. Depends on the sales of this new line if they will keep them, but if they don't do well I could see them stopping and moving on to something else (or just more of a focus on pops and sodas and cutting back on other lines).

With Funkos new plan to get rid of some items, I do not expect Funko rewind to continue in the future.

While I do agree that Rewind probably won’t last too long, I did go to Target today and the Rewind display was almost completely sold out. So anecdotally people do like them…

I hope not unless they update the packaging but do to theme of the product that would probably be difficult but the packaging does hold up well to be a collectible item

I bought a few sdcc this year. They seem pretty cool only problem is that I have no where to put them. Too many pops currently in storage bins. I honestly think Funko should stick to Pops and Sodas. Too many different lines just end up sitting on store shelves.

I have to agree with you, I do like the weight that the soda figures have in comparison to the rewind figures.

:-k To me seems like the same as the Sodas but in a different packaging. I think it'll go the way of the Dorbz.

I love the concept and especially the VHS packaging. I just don't care for the vinyl toy. I purely want to collect the VHS looking package.

Only time will tell if they’ll last, I personally like the line and hope that it will survive. If the line doesn’t get over saturated, it can stand a chance IMO…

I agree, not sure if it can sustain demand. I think this would be cool for convention exclusives only -- not high production like what we're seeing.

Does make you wonder if they could have gone skinner or if they have other figures in mind that will be thicker. Trying not to limit themselves like the soda dimensions do.

Yesss. I wasn't too hyped about this line from seeing the Freddy ones -- but I just bought my first Rewind of Fantasia Mickey and WOW he is sooo cute! I like the art style and packaging better than the Sodas, and I hope/wish they'd do the Vampire Mickey or some other Halloween Disney characters as Rewinds also.

Long story short, I think the art is just so hit or miss depending on the characters, so I don't think they'll be around for long...but crossing my fingers that Funko makes more that I like before they're gone. lol

I saw a few at my local Target but they were all opened like the sodas. The robot Freddy is the best one they released but I’m not really a fan of the style. Much like what everyone else has mentioned, the packaging is top tier. I do like the idea that they’re cheaper than sodas (for the time being) but I can’t see this line being around as long as pop

It was on the tip of my tongue for the longest time, but this exactly - they look just like Playmobil figures!

I'm not quite sure I see these surviving - sadly, I see a lot of these sitting on shelves fully stocked in the stores around me. They're definitely unique, but with Funko cutting back, I'm not sure they would make the cut. If this is just a short run of figures though, I could see that being fine.
