Hidden Treasure Mystery

Postby Scotty » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:23 pm

Hi all. I'm trying to solve a little mystery. I've made a couple of private inqueries, so now its up to the rest of you to help solve this case.

I found this coin beneath the lid of the Blue Billy Spastik Plastik I bought. I acquired a second blue Billy from Jennifer recently, but that one did not have a coin. (Ron/Carol/Kevin: I incorrectly told you I found it in a T-bone--oops) The coin has no Funko markings and only says "GOLD D'ORO".

So who knows what this is about? C'mon, spill. :-k

This was from Funday. If you had a coin on the bottom of the cylinder in your BOF (Box of Fun) you'd get a special prize. Prize could have been the year of the silver or gold Rockem Sockem robots??
.

Craig here......

Craig, do you remember if the coin in the picture is the actual coin? And sorry for being a newb so just need to clarify--what do you mean by the bottom of the cylinder in your BOF; was there a Spastik in the BOF (like the blue Billy)?

Was that the year they gave out the Freddy Tiki wobbler Craig ? I don't remember the coin because i probably didn't get one. I know there was a coin involved with the 2003 Las Vegas fundays but i didn't get one of those either.
My name is Carol, also respond to "Sho"

My thought exactly. Figured I'd bring it to the next Fun Day and try to redeem it lol But only if it's a legit coin, otherwise it wouldn't be that funny.

I don't know why I didn't remember this until now, but I bought a gold and silver Freddy recently that had a gold "coin" in the box too with Brian's initial on one side. I hope Brian will let us redeem this at Fun Days next year. lol

BOF stands for Box Of Fun Scott. That is what you get when you walk into Fundays. I don't think can still redeem them any more.

Rev, yea, wasn't thinking it would work, just thought I'd give Brian a hard time.

Steve, does your coin look like the one in the pic at top of thread?

Nope...it has a dude on it, but not with the huge nose that that one has. It says "AVAG CO BEPSIC" across the top. One side has a red B written in permanent marker.

Well, that's where I found mine. Do you know what the coin was for? Same as the coin in the BOF, to redeem for something?

Tempting Al, tempting. Of course, not looking to actually redeem a 7-year old coin, just looking to solve the mystery of its origin and what it got the owner. And that's in case the Dr. Who time travel machine I bought on ebay works.

Are you sure? Some of the numbers look very lucky, like 7 and 42.

well, i believe that blue billy was a comic con exclusive from 2004. But i do not remember a contest related to them. They were for sale at the booth and not at funday, so not a funday contest from that year. There was a coin in vegas bof and if you got one you got a 1 of 40 glow casper.

Had not heard of these random coins, cool info. Thanks
