If its one of our fav lines, for example Hunter x Hunter, we preorder all of the commons! If its a line we aren't as into we tend to pick and choose a bit more

Same here. I used to be very compulsive in buying everything. Now I prefer to curate the collection more and focus on the mold or subject.

I still buy commons, especially if that's the only pop for that character. As a whole I used to buy more, but with time and due to space I really think about what I'm picking up before I buy it.

Sometimes, the only Pops in the line are commons (e.g. Goodfellas) and if I like the line then I’ll buy the commons. Sometimes I just like the mold. Like others though, the frequency of buying commons is less and less.

I usually only buy commons when I want to complete a set or when I’m really attracted to a specific mold and even then I kinda wait until I see discounts. Funko hasn’t been as active as far as vaulting lines. I feel like that used to happen more often in the past and there was kinda like a rush to go and get what you want otherwise you were risking not getting it at all. This new era is more laid back and you can move at a leisurely pace to get what you want whether that’s waiting a year or two year or maybe even three to get a line that you want. It’s seldom that things vault quick nowadays and even when they do, they don’t rocket quick so you can just cop from secondary if it’s something you can’t live without

Yeah I feel like a few years ago, when something got vaulted, everyone started buying whatever stock was left and upped the price in the aftermarket. Nowadays most pops are out long enough, I think people are more surprised that they’re not vaulted. There are a few speculators on social media that try to make a big deal out of vaultings, but kinda feels a very niche part of collecting now.

Most definitely 100%. Vaulting used to cause panic back in the day but now it’s just a cool cliff note & lets you know if you’ve been holding off then it’s probably best to pick up soon. Even then though not everything that vaults rises on the after market. Thats why I like the idea of open editions because as new fans join, it kinda help the ecosystem a bit and rewards the fans of each fandom. Sometimes people don’t even really want to sell what they have, they just want to know its worth something for bragging rights

Yeah my gamestop constantly has pops on clearance for 5 or 6 bucks, great deal when I can't find anything to spend my monthly 5 on.

I do, but if they come out with the same sculpt that is a Glow or Flocked variant.. I replace the common with the exclusive.

Sometimes I hold off on the common until I can be at least sure they won't come out with an exclusive for it. It's one of the games I play with the Pokemon line. Out of three commons they put out, perhaps 1 of them gets an exclusive. So I wait it out. Like the Grokey and Aipom recently.

Commons are still collectible because they'll be of characters that'll probably never be an exclusive or limited edition. But You buy it because it's what you need to complete the collection or its of a character you really like. If you think about it, some past commons became really coveted collectibles because even though it was a common, there was never another one made of the character. But as always, buy what you like.

I'm a sucker for getting to the "free shipping" level as well. at least they have that fan rewards system in place now. I was able to score a proto there after reaching 25,000 points! another suspect validation for all my purchases... hehehe
