I honestly love the idea of getting Autographs on signings but really have not been able to get very many. I know NYCC has quite a few I would love to go to every year, just never am able to partake in that con due to the overall cost. So overall if I am lucky to have a Funko pop signed, I would love the idea, but also I would just love the idea of meeting that person.

Do any of you have pops autographed by comic writers or artist? Curious what there reaction was when you handed them the pop to sign.

I recently got Pops signed by Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee. No big reaction really. I think they sign lots of stuff, pops, action figures and comics. They were both super nice and accommodating to me and my son.

Donny Cates was really surprised to see they made a Ghost Rider Doctor Strange pop. I think he was a little upset no one told him lol. Funko later sent him a free one.

Chris Bachalo was really excited to sign my Gwenpool pop. He didn’t know they made them. He gave me $20 to buy one for him at a booth at a con. He remembered me at the next con I saw him at and he signed some of my books for free.

I’ve had Humberto Ramos and Dan Slott sign a Silk Pop. No real reaction from Ramos. Slott was excited to see Ramos had already signed it.

Ryan Parrott was really excited to sign the Black Ranger/Donatello pop. He was showing it off to some of the creators next to him in artist alley.

Jason Aaron already had Jane Foster Thor in his collection so he didn’t have a big reaction to it.

Sean Gordon Murphy did a remarque for my White Knight 2-pack. He didn’t have a specific reaction to the pop itself, but he took a moment to think about the remark he would do and how he’d place it and his signature on the box.

Marco Checchetto didn’t have any reaction to the Daredevil pop I had him sign.

Jim Starlin didn’t have any reaction to the Thanos pop. I think he was more caught up in choosing a color to sign with. He’s allergic to Sharpie paint pens supposedly so he let me pick one of his other pens to use.

Chris Claremont didn’t really have any reaction to metallic Colossus or Kitty Pryde/Lockheed. I think his assistant was more excited to see them.

Brian K Vaughan was really cool. He was surprised I had the Will Chase and Skybound exclusive Lying Cat since the pops just came out and the store he was signing at had only commons.

Thor Ragnarok had just come out and Greg Pak was happy to see they made the Gladiator Hulk pop. My brother had his Amadeus Cho Hulk pop signed and he was excited to see that it even existed.

And those were exactly names I was specifically thinking about as I'm going to a Jim Lee signing in the Bay Area this week. Good to know and thanks for your response.

Anyone remember the good days when voice actors who weren't as big didn't charge an arm and a leg for autographs? Especially charging extra for Pops specifically

It does bug me that people charge more because a Pop is a “premium item” which is why I don’t get a lot of Pops signed. When autographs are already pushing $80 minimum, adding another $20 seems like too much.

My only Pops I have autographed I got when they were signing for free. The next year I saw them charging $40 for auto or $60 for Pop auto. I gave up lol.

I used to get my comics signed at cons than I just stopped. I think maybe because prices went way up. However I recently went through my collection and seen artist who have passed away like Stan Lee, Neil Adams and Tim Sales. It brings back good memories and makes the comics more special. I’m definitely gonna try and get autos this con.

I just wouldn't know where to begin with getting a pop signed. do you get like the original creator to sign it.. the voice actor/actor or like some artist who was involved with it idk. makes it hard for me.

With the majority of them, people get the actor who played that character. In some scenarios like with comic hero/villains people will get the creator/artist of that character

For comics, most major MCU actors are out of my price range so I rule them out lol. I don’t mind getting pops signed by multiple people like original creators or maybe a creator from a later run that I liked.

If I want to get really specific, if a pop design is based on a specific iteration of a character, I’d probably get that signed by only the writer/artist if that iteration of the character. For example I have a Silk Pop signed by writer Robbie Thompson and the cover artist, Helen Chen. But then I also have the Silk Pop of her original outfit signed by her creators instead.

Yeah I used to go in with stacks of books to sign, but now I usually just go with one or two. They’re not as expensive voice and live action actors, but it adds up when you want your favorite artist or writer to sign all your favorites. Sometimes I ask around to see what artist’s prices are because they do them all so differently. Like some sign X amount for a flat price and charge extra for more, some charge more for certain books or pops. Or some go the Liefeld route and have a menu for types of signatures and remarques and then those prices change depending on if it’s books or pops being signed.

Then add the CGC witness stuff charge on top. I wonder if VAs will adopt the same surcharge now that JSA will have witnessed authentications.

Don't forget some are charging for quotes also.
But what really gets me is that some VA try to charge for sketches, when they are not know for any kind of artwork and cannot draw at all.

Yeah I think Liefeld charges more for signing new mutants 98 issue too. Frank Miller is my unicorn. I would pay premium for his auto.

Liefeld is dang near $100 for sure depending on the item LOL!

I went to a con last month and one Va was charging 85$ plus 20$ more for a quote plus 20$ more if on a PoP
Thats crazy 125$ for an auto and quote. Thats where I had to pass on the auto

They get you with those 'extra' inscriptions LOL!

I guess some are tired of doing quotes lol I seen some VA's who charge for every 6 words. 18 word quote? 60$

I've gotten a few pops signed from the cast of Naruto. Luckily I got them at C2e2 and Fanexpo Chicago 2024. I also got Johnny Yong Bosch for Ichigo at Fanexpo Chicago 2024. I kinda want to try for cast of pokemon and Sailormoon at Collect-a-con but this time it conflicted with C2E2

A few years ago I was at ECCC in line for David Tennant and the person in front of me asked him for a quote that looked like 40 words or more. He even said that was the longest quote he ever had to write (it was on a 8x10). So in cases like this I can see wanting to charge more for a quote. However last year Andy Serkis was asking 60$ for a quote regardless of length.

I have had quite a few VA sign my pops but I just go for the signature not a quote, as others have mentioned, some quotes can be quite $$$$

$60 to have him just sign, “My precious!” is crazy!
