Stores are getting wise...

Postby angrychairs » Sun May 06, 2012 7:57 pm

I knew they knew a thing or two when I found my loki a couple months back at a price of 29.95, Sure on ebay it was 100+ so I didnt think they knew it all. But now...

I really wanted that Wonder Woman but the fun of hunting chases in the wild is that it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. She doesn't go for much more on ebay and that Batman has been steadily dropping.I hope this doesn't become a new trend at local stores.

I think cheaper prices will still be found at retail stores. Im assuming this is a comic book store. and those prices are still good.

35 I'd very reasonable if you ask me, especially if there are zero signs of a chase being found for 9.95

One of my comic book stores has two Greedos with stickers on the saying Retired 19.99. I have found a chase there with no mark up though.

One comic book store here wised up to it all... had the second Gremlin Glow at a higher cost and behind the counter. Game Traders hasn't yet and I really hope they don't!

If funko wanted the chases to be marked up they would sell them at a higher cost. I don't think its fair for retailers to mark them up when they paid the same wholesale cost as all their other pops.

It definitely removes some of the fun from hunting for a chase piece.

There's no more incentive to go hunting anymore if they do that while you can just buy them online.

Most comic shops have always charged more for the to find figures. Now if Barnes and Nobles started trying to do that, it would be problem.

I don't know about you guys but buying a $50-75 chase for $35 while not worrying about shipping and supporting a local comic shop makes it enough incentive for me. There aren't many customers walking through comic shops for the last decade or so, so I wouldnt have an issue with this at all. As long as they stay below ebay pricing. Retail chains still will have them under $10

Since I have yet to find a comic shop with any chases whatsoever or really any that carry Pops on a consistent basis I'd say I'd give to find a store that overcharges.

Of course, now that i have them all I guess I don't really care. \:D/ But, i still feel for all of you and wish things weren't the way they are.
