they said they were going to cut down on the shipping costs... I would prefer to have been given the option to pay more for good shipping or charge less

Like $6 or $7 bucks they charge for shipping.. And you know Funko gets a smoking deal on shipping lol

I wouldn’t mind paying that if they ship the pop double boxed like old Funko shipping. The new way don’t like it at all.

Do they? They may pay a flat fee per piece and just pass the cost along to the buyer. Why do people assume retailers are making out on shipping?

I wrote them a nice constructive email to let them know I was not impressed. Maybe if enough of write them and are constructive they will change back or find a new solution.

I'm sure a lot of people are writing letters. Mine arrives tomorrow so will see

No way Funko is paying $7 to ship each one of those. Which is retail for is at USPS priority ship.. Funko f
Shop takes up to a week to deliver. So its basic shipping.
I will see its a flat rate. So if you buy a ton of stuff its a deal. But with pop up shop stuff you can buy other stuff.

My point is simple, none of us work there so no one can say for sure. We can guess based on how long it takes to arrive but we can’t know 100%. I have a friend that has a small business that does bulk shipping and gets charged a flat rate for each type of parcel sent. I don’t know the cost for the different types but I do know that envelops are cheaper than boxes.

Funko definitely makes out on shipping. They are a pretty large volume shipper and they probably have negotiated a deal with the shipping services (DHL, UPS, USPS, whoever). Your friend might even get a discount and his business probably pales in comparison in terms of number of parcels shipped. I obviously don't know the specifics, but can say with 100% certainty they are charging above their cost of the shipping itself. When you factor in material costs and personnel costs of people prepping and packing orders, that margin starts to erode obviously, but I'm sure they are still making something off the shipping. And frankly, that's OK.

Yep and honestly if Funko isn’t making out on shipping, they’re doing shipping wrong! They get significant bulk discounts from shipping services and use the current shipping prices to subsidize other costs (like you said ;-) ). That’s what many retailers do (and why other retailers can afford to offer free shipping).

Agree 100%

Tho I would add that I don't think it's actually okay that they overcharge for shipping. It's the main reason I have almost never ordered from the funko shop. I can't swallow such high shipping costs compared to every other retailer I use. If they would start offering free shipping for orders over a certain amount, I might change my mind! Thankfully, I don't collect original characters or HB stuff.

See you are assuming the opposite based on your knowledge. I said I wrote a nice constructive email letting them know how I feel. I do believe that they are charging too much based on my experience. I wasn't rude and I encourage others to do the same. It can encourage them to do a cost analysis and possibly give us two options for shipping. One for a box or one for double boxed. It's good to let a company know how you feel in a constructive manner, it's how they know they need to change something.

Fair point. I don't like it as a consumer either honestly. My point is that it's their right to do so, just like it's your right to choose not to pay the costs by shopping elsewhere. If you want something bad enough, you'll choose to pay the price. You have obviously made your choice. Frankly, I don't think funko is too bad since it's a flat rate. Some retailers are worse. Entertainment earth, FYE, one of those I think charges ridiculous shipping IIRC. With that said, it is now getting costly because if you want pop up shop items nowadays, you have to buy right away for most pops and its a single item at a time. If you were able to bundle like before, it wouldn't be so bad.

I definitely agree that it is their right! I also agree that a bundle option would be very nice and fair, especially to loyal, one could even say fanatic, customers. :roflmao:

And yeah, I think FYE is the one that charges crazy shipping? Also the fact that HT will charge over the price of a common for an exclusive pop, when Target charges like 9 bucks and I can bundle it with other stuff I need and get free shipping. I'm never sure how all of that happens.
