Sometimes just because it wasn't intended doesn't mean it didn't occur. When that drunk driver got behind the wheel of a car he didn't mean to kill anyone but they did. That is an extreme example but it makes the point. So when people speak up because they are hurt, you don't say well I didn't mean it that way, you listen, correct it, and do better in the future.

and i'm sure all of this popping up at the height of outrage culture had nothing to do with it, this guy was just seething with deep psychological wounds over the torment of Apu for 29 years and was just now brave enough to say something people need to get the hell over themselves and companies need to stop placating these whiny schoolmarms who aren't their target audiences to begin with and seem to only exist to ruin things that other people enjoy.

I know if they had a prominent Jewish character based in stereotypes, I would be pretty offended, and I would also be pretty p*** if people told me I was overreacting. I don't think we should be mocking people for calling out legit problems, even if it means we have to face that we've enjoyed a character that has hurt others.

i'll spare you what i'm sure will amount to deep emotional distress and not tell you that they literally have a character named "Old Jewish Man" in the cast

If everyone thought like this we would be stuck in the dark ages, yes it takes courage to say you have been in the wrong for 29 years and I am no longer going to stand here and take it. Just because something has been done for a long time doesn't make it right. It's not placating, it's doing the right thing. I know people hate when their status quo is challenged and want to be hateful towards those speaking up. It just says more about them than the people are insulting.

because a character like Apu IS treating them like the majority (which if you look at the statistics on the planet they are already not a minority). the entire city of Springfield is made up of various stereotypes poking fun at everybody from every walk of life, when you pick one group that is off-limits and can't be made fun of you are saying they are too weak and too stupid to take a joke like everybody else in the world used to be able to do.

Yeah it seems like he should of been in the original wave. Who knows, maybe they planned on making him and the line didn’t sell well.
