Is freddy a liscensed character? Maybe is something that one of the OGs have the rights too and since they are gone, we'll who knows if they want to sell it? Just a conversation I had with my other half, Funko loses liscenses all the time so maybe he is one of those too.
However I hope he stays! He is an icon and now that Franny and Proto are around, it wouldn't make sense to drop any of the 3.

Re: Rumor of Freddy leaving Funko
I heard this rumor while I was at SDCC and yes, hard to imagine Freddy leaving Funko. But it could also be a temperature test with the fans: what would be our reaction toward Funko if such a thing happens? Will Mike get Freddy to Rokimoto? Funko teasing our loyalty? Time will tell.

Re: Rumor of Freddy leaving Funko
I think there is no chance of Freddy leaving Funko, that would be like saying Ronald is leaving McDonald's. Freddy is now the face of a hobby and so many cherished memories. I say don't believe the rumors!

Re: Rumor of Freddy leaving Funko
Honestly, I don't think Funko would get rid of Freddy.
He's an icon. The face of Funko. The mascot of the nostalgia and history of Funko.
If Funko would like to write a new chapter in their evolution, then update Freddy's design, like they have in the past.
But getting rid of Freddy would be like Bob's getting rid of Big Boy.
Maybe I'm just hoping the rumors aren't true.

I would say that he was Mike's, and some of his spirit is still with Mike. But I think a little bit of Freddy now belongs to and with all of us.
Yeah, Mike did make Freddy for the funatics.

I second this.
I find it very hard to see them take an away what is clearly still a very important factor to the company.

This would be a bold move for sure. It would also be a sad day for many Funatics.

Re: Rumor of Freddy leaving Funko
A Funko employee made a post during SDCC saying it was all nonsense and clickbait.
