Sealing an autograph

Postby Nis_chac » Mon Oct 11, 2021 8:23 pm

Hey guys! I got a pop signed at NYCC this weekend! I used a premium paint pen on the window. I was wondering what the best way to preserve the signature is?
I was thinking of using a paint sealer. Do you think this will ruin the box?
Do you have any other tips?

I don’t have any tips, but can I be nosey and ask what autograph you got?

Do not do anything to it. If you want to preserve it get one of the UV hard stacks from Funko but do not spray paint sealer or anything else on it unless you want to ruin it.

I've never done anything else after having a pop signed, using a paint marker is great. I don't think that I would use a paint sealer as it could just degrade the window and box. Put it in a hard stack and enjoy it.

I don’t even put them in a hard stack from fear that the hard stack will rip the paint off the window.

I know I've seen some 3rd party pop protectors that are a little larger that pop stacks, you may have more room to breathe in there and not have pen touching the plastic
Thank you everyone for this awesome community

That what I would do I have mine in the hard protectors and soft so it's what ever you feel most comfortable with. I would say though, the hard stacks work the best! \:D/

You should be fine because the plastic is behind the box (if that makes sense) so when you put a Pop in a stack it does not ever touch the plastic. Regular protectors are a lot more snug in my experience. The UV stack made by Funko has the most extra space of any hard protector I have seen, although I do still prefer Pop Shield Armor.

Don't use any sealers, keep the item in a hard stack with minimal outside lighting.

Agree. Additionally, i know this seems less fun but once my pops are in their stack they all face away from light. Even in a UV stack id never face a pop towards the light. Light/heat and moisture are big big enemies of autographs no matter the pen/marker used and no matter the material signed on.

Just like everyone else has said, hard stack and you're good to go.

Ditto to the Hard stack or one of 7BAP's armor cases with minimal natural light is your best bet.

I have multiple signed with paint pen and they stay in either a hard stack or pop shield soft protector

I just throw most of mine in protectors too although I do have one signed on the actual pop that I didn't have the box for (from my early days of collecting) and I like to joke that dust is the first layer of protection for that one. LOL
