Time for Formula 1 Pops

Postby Imagery » Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:23 pm

The new season is upon us and I think it's time we get some Formula 1 Pops. We have Nascar — now it's time to give the guys that do more than drive in a circle some love ;-)

Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez and Daniel Riccardo would be instant buys in my house.

I’m big into F1. Pops would be great but a ride is a must. I’m all in with Ferrari.

I wonder how difficult it would be for the car brand licensing.

:beerchug: Well we do have a Mario Andretti but he's in the sports legends series. But I use to love going to Long Beach Grand Prix every year. WOW if they came out with like a Pop Ride with the Marlboro car would be awesome. Would bring back a lot of memories. Formula 1 crowd is a lot different than Nascar fans. Formula 1 I would see a lot of people dressed up smoking cigars and drinking wine. When i go to Nascr races we just dress connfortable and drink lots of beer. I can hang with both crowds :beerchug: :freddy3: :freddy3:

For sure if they were able to get the license to do them, we would need some pop rides. Sara could idea that would continue to grow Funko around the world. :freddy3:

In terms of license, Lego just released a McLaren F1 Car set, hopefully Funko follows down the line. :D

I would be down with Pop Rides first than individual Pops for drivers for this line. :D

i think you're right. too many cooks in the kitchen that would need to sign off - that is if its a true replica that is sought after. driver pops should be a little easier i would think.

Love the Pop Rides ideas. They've done it for Nascar, so shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for F1. I'd be happy with drivers, but Rides would be next level

JP Montoya is one of my favs, followed his career during his stint in Indy and NASCAR. He’s an international figure so this would be a hot pop imo

As mentioned above, having the race cars look like they do on TV etc might be a heavy task to achieve given all of the logos/brands involved. Not impossible, just difficult I believe.

I think they could probably focus on the primary owners/sponsors. I wouldn't think anyone would be against the additional promotion

Look at my post, I found a couple on Gamestop. Kinda random since there was no real announcement.

Great news everyone! Looks like Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have been spotted on GameStop. Wonder if we'll see an official announcement soon. Hopefully with some other drivers as well.

Exactly, I wouldn't think that we could see a lot of details a few year agos. Now I can see it being more detailed with how much more they are doing on designs. There is always the distant thought of having engine sounds in them also. :)

Definitely! Even comparing the first Rides to some of the newer ones, you can see the difference. But sound effects would be awesome

I'm sad there wasn't a Pop Ride with this first release - I'm not a huge F1 fan, but that would have been cool to see.

He actually did pretty well with his new team this weekend. I'm hoping this is just a first wave. A lot of deserving drivers on the track

Do I get to race pop cars on it? With little pop drivers inside?

This is a fun idea! Some of the tracks have very cool looking shapes too

Another idea is having versions of the drivers with trophies from various tracks, particularly since they're each different — kind of like when hockey players came with the Stanley Cup

That would be fun, maybe they could do track releases like what baseball does with team figures?

Yeah, that'd be cool. I'm up for any way we can get more F1 drivers
