I bought it from a dude at NYCC. At the cons people get over joyed and buy with out checking if they are fake. This past October I spotted a fake and brought it to the attention of the vendor.

That's so scary.

Yes. That’s why I’m all but done with older vaulted Funko pops. Unless I know the person who is selling or trading them.

It's sad it comes to this but I have to agree. I'm always so weary about buying anything if real value.

Also don’t buy anything online. 90% of time it’s fake.

I've been collecting Funko for close to a decade and collecting in general for 40 years...I have yet to come across anything fake. A friend showed me a fake bearbrick once & it was quite obvious from the packaging paint, etc that it was counterfeit. The first tip off was the price was way too cheap...you see something going for $20 when its normally $200? Might be too good to be true & usually it is

I'm sure there are plenty of unscrupulous people out there who do funny stuff with Pops, but I wouldn't go around telling people 90%of the time they purchase a toy online its a fake. And if I did I'd be sure to post pics of the many many fake pops I've come across so I could help someone avoid the same experience...Funko collectors fueled by hearsay is no bueno lol

There are a few places to check for comparisons. My first route is to check ebay and look at both the highest and lowest listings. If you find a tons at stupid low prices and they are shipping from outside the US then most likely that's a fake. I then look at various ones at the higher range to see if they all look the same. There's also a facebook group that does Funko legit checks where people will try to help to confirm by showing theirs or other stuff. googling fake funko or anti fake funko you can find resources and maybe comparison pictures . I don't know about the link posting rules here so I won't post any sites but there are some out there.

Also WhatNot is good as far as listings go, but there are fakes sold in the live auctions at times. I got banned from a stream when I pointed out a ghostface was not legit and the seller kicked me for pointing out the signs. I've run into too many that believe that all items are safe there regardless of how it's listed. I know the standard listings are screened but the live listings are definitely not.

people have to remember that there are bad seeds out there or people that sell product they don't know so things slip through. I personally research any one that's expensive I plan to buy because if I'm going to put out that much money it needs to be legit.

You can pay a little extra and they can verify the pop. I’ve done it plenty of times and it works.

I just choose to purchase things from people I know.. I stopped doing ebay and mercari... I often just wait for geminis drop.. At least that way even though I am spending more I know stickers are legit... As far as pops I am sure I have at least one or two fakes who knows...
