as so many people have said, no way! another way to look at it is that you can be a fan of how the Pop looks while not needing to know its background. buy what you enjoy and brings you happiness.

My major rabbit hole is collecting what I like. I literally like so many things regardless what they are from as well. If they look cool or just stand out I usually grab it. They have made some really detailed sick looking anime that I dont watch but I can really appreciate the work and the design of the pop.
I actually collect a lot of protos that way too, translucent pieces on a proto are just so cool and stand out so much to me im drawn to them every time. Collect what speaks to you otherwise youre just buying stuff LOL

Have you bought a Pop! just for the way it looks, even if you are not a fan of, or have no knowledge about the licensed product?

I have a lot of Pops! in my collection that I have acquired which I just think look awesome, mostly from anime, but I couldn't tell you anything about the license and who the character is, or why they are depicted in this way. I just reacted to the design. (For example SDCC 2022 Enmu)

Conversely, there are lines released, which when I see them, I feel no inclination to buy the Pops! And then, when I happen to watch the show, and become invested in the characters, I suddenly feel the need to add the Pops! to my collection. (For example House of Dragon - Daemon looks much cooler when I know what a complex character he is)

This collecting thing is so complicated...

Just collect what you like and budget what you want to buy. Thats all it matters.

I have 100% bought a pop just because of the way it looks the awesome mold, and then ended up watching a movie or seeing a show later on and absolutely loving that I picked up the pop before I actually cared about what it was

I've purchased a Pop or two just because I liked it. AKA, my Mr. Rodgers Pop! is one of my favorites. Grew up watching him as a kid and saw it was a special release so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase.

I have a Ron Swanson Pop from SDCC a few years back that I got solely because I loved the depiction from the show. I still have it and love it. It's solely because of the depiction of the character I got it. It depends on the individual. Collect what you like.

I am always a fan of detailed pops so I’m drawn to highly detailed and well thought of design. A great example is I was drawn to One Piece Caesar Clown just due to the colors and the smoke/clouds base. And One Piece definitely isn’t my thing.

No way! I’ve bought many pops that I thought looked cool but had no idea what they were from. Just be careful as it can get out of hand quickly. Make sure you have a lot of space!

Nope that's the beauty of it being your collection. You decide what goes into it. I have a few pieces myself I have even though I'm not a fan of the show, it could be because I like the character, the person who plays them or just because it looks cool

My 75 year old mother loves a lot of sci-fi and marvel and she has her own wall of Marvel and Star Trek POPs. She never heard of POPs until maybe a few years ago but loves how the characters look.

Also, you have instances where the design looks cool and you look into it and you actually get into the show. Happened to me with Jujutsi Kaisen when I saw the Sukuna POP. I thought the design looked neat and I looked into the show and it got me watching it.
