Open from the bottom of box, never the top. Use a credit card for leverage. Careful pulling up in case the end of the tab is caught cause that could tear.

Practice makes perfect, but always open from the bottom.

Best advice most collectors use^^

Also if you’re like me, don’t forget to wipe off the static dust on the inside before sealing it back up. Lol. Usually bugs me when I see new spots on dust/lint inside from me opening the box.

Like said above, butter knife from the bottom. I usually slide it in and shimmy the blade up to carefully remove the flap, some of them are tucked in due to normal warping and stuff, just be careful.

Really appreciate the response, need to practice on some inexpensive pops first!

Just order the Pop! from Walmart, and it will come pre-opened  lol

Just kidding, I open them from the bottom and it seems to work better than from the top.

Slowly and I usually start at the bottom sometimes since the top can be a pain to open. :freddy3:

Chopstick is usually the way to go. As long as you can get the main flap around the side ones, you're golden.

Wow I learned something new! I usually just pop the top off with my fingers and not worry so much about damaging the box. I am more of a perfect figure collector. I like the ones where the pain, flock, and glow is on point :)

I generally open mine from the bottom. A non-sharp dinner knife works if you can pull the both flap ends simultaneously. If not, usually a finger under one side (bottom flap) works to get one flap open. Get someone with small thin fingers (which helps) not bend the flap if your fingers are too big.

I too use the credit card trick. I just make sure to use it get a corner started on the bottom. Works every time.
I’ve seen this successfully done on the exhibitor floor of SDCC with a $40k Pop! Frenom too…that was then shoved into my hands for me to hold. Never been so nervous.

This. And if one corner does hook, move to the other. There is usually one that is lined up well.

I have a comb that has a long metal point stick out one end, and I use that, only on the bottom. I display OOB so I open all pop boxes and this has always been the best method for me. I know the credit card and butter knife works as well. At least 50% of my collection will never go back into the boxes, but I still don't want to damage them jussssst in case I need to put them back in for some reason.
That said, I also don't care about box damage, so sometimes it doesn't even matter.

I always open from the bottom because I've found those to be set a bit easier to open than the top which can bow and make the angle difficult. For leverage I use the flat side of a plastic knife to help guide the box open.

Also want to add, be careful putting the insert back into the box. This can cause tearing at the corners if you're not careful and just jam it in there. Or on the plastic window if it somehow gets caught

Definitely use a flat card (plastic better) on the bottom corner of the box to get the folded tab from the bottom past the side tab, insert the card from the side opening between the side of the box and the bottom of the box, gently manipulate the bottom tab at the back of the box with the card to safely pass the folded side tab which your card is resting on top of

The way I do it is take a flat card, like a credit card and try each corner. If the corner is giving you a tough time, then move onto the next. There is always a corner that is a little looser then the rest for sure.
