Anybody else think they’re overdoing it on Freddy lately?

It may be an attempt to draw attention to the new digital funko platform. It’s working in my opinion.

I’m usually in the minority here on opinions, but am I the only one who thinks them taking Freddy from being a yearly offering that gets maybe a couple hundred pieces and turning him into a bi-monthly drop of thousands is really diminishing his appeal? Wanting a Freddy collection was my top priority when I first learned about him and Fundays, but now what was once such a special epic thing is starting to feel so mundane, which is sad and kind of how I’ve been feeling about collecting Funko in general. I dunno, maybe it’s the announcement of yet another NFT drop meaning a couple thousand new Freddys are destined for this world, but it just got me thinking , and I know how much you all hate me thinking so I’ll end it there.

I'm okay with it since I only buy the Freddys that I like. I'm also quickly turning into just a Freddy collector since my usual Fandoms are no longer on Funko's radar.

Agreed with this since everyone is a fan of something. And the biggest selection of Freddys lately may help people make trades. It's kinda nice for those who might be newer collectors, who may not be able to do the NFT drops bc they have issues buying WAX due to the state they live in and related restrictions and/or their debit or credit cards won't let them, and/or can't make it out to the cons or events like Fundays or Fright Night.

Yeah I agree. Collect what you love and not a piece count. Make as many as you can.

The hunt was more difficult when there were fewer Freddys, but I'm not bothered that there are more now. It allows more fandoms to have a related Freddy and makes him more accessible, which seems reasonable since he's the Funko mascot

I personally love the Freddys. They look awesome and fit in with other brands perfectly. I hope in the future I can get in to other Funko events to collect more of them.

As a brand, the mascot is everything. It is their own IP so the profit lines will be different and by making him such a relatable character they are putting their efforts in to making the mascot synonymous with the name. To me it is a brilliant marketing strategy because what they are not doing is plastering Freddy's face all over every Funko box and still succeeding with making that face recognizable with the brand.

At this point I can't see a character so broad being so limited, the company is too big for that.

Freddy Funko pieces have always been very popular, and since they do not require any specific form of licensing from a third party, Funko is being very smart in producing more of these. They do prop up part of the NFT Digital Pop market (note: one look at the current royalty price of the GoT drop should be enough to confirm exactly how much...) and i think that will continue going forward. I agree that it would appear that "500" is the new low edition threshold. I think the overall goal is to be able to put a Freddy Pop into just about anyone's collection!

I actually like this aspect of the increase in Freddys. This makes it almost an exclusive within an exclusive like there are tiers to the Freddys.

Absolutely not!! I love anything Freddy. The majority of my collection is Freddy Funko Pops and SODAS. As long as I can get them!! Lol!! Still need a beautiful SMF Pop! or SMF SODA. My fingers and toes are always crossed! Love you Freddy.

It is a lot however I love Freddy’s. Plus not everyone gets the royalty’s so it’s still limited. I was actually pretty bummed out they didn’t do a Freddy Royalty in the GOT nft drop. Only reason why I do the nfts is for the Freddy royalty

They’re overdoing it with EVERYTHING. Once I saw the Social Media Freddy sodas, “I’m done” The rise of the NFTS have diminished the Freddy Collecting. I remember a time when you needed to attend Fundays to score a FF. Not anymore

Almost 100 new Freddy's in a year is pretty nuts.

As someone who loves Freddy i've been happy, however when you put the numbers out man they really have. Im enjoying it though.
