I gifted my friend a $15 funko pop way back which was Tony Montana now it’s worth a lot more and he still never actually bought any other funkos lol

Well at least he still has it. I have seen some Pops! that I have purchased for family go from a prominent display to hardly being seen. I am sure he appreciates it.

Some kids knocked on my door on Halloween and I gave them funko pops

Now I’m wondering if they have more funko pops :compress:

I think it's a lot of fun when that happens - gift a friend a $15 pop, and a few years later you can go "Hey, you know what that 'toy' is worth now?". And then watch their eyes bug out of their heads! lol

I have gifted them, not so much because I wanted that person to start collecting, but more because I know it's their favorite character. Like my best friend would never collect, it's not her thing and she hates "clutter" but she loves the Maleficent pops I have given her. LOL

MAbsolutely but not always that. A lot of times I give away pops just because they are fans of something. Just to see them smile. Though also if you ever say anything bad about pops in front of me it’s a guarantee I’m giving you one 8-[

My stepdad is a big comic book fan. I gave him a pop for Christmas a few years ago and it has not seen the light of day since.

My wife used to subscribe to an anime box called AkiBento, and would get at least one Pop a month. She isn't really a fan of them, though, and we ended up selling most of them. I gifted her a few just because we love certain characters - the 3 mains from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and Tamatoa from Moana, but it didn't make her want to collect any more.

Personally, I think I mostly started collecting after being "gifted" the Conan Pops from SDCC.
Funatic from Philadelphia. Nicolas Cage Super Fan.

all the time! I’ve given many pops to friends who have a certain interest or fandom.
One example I have a friend who enjoys basketball and gave him the basketball Freddy (not the LE one that’s mine lol)
