I wouldn't buy a graded one, but I would consider sending one in from a line that I mostly collect. Maybe sending in a Bats and getting it back as a 10 and displaying.

Personally I stay away from graded pops. Just not my cup of tea. I prefer to just keep my pops as minty as possible with protectors.

Grading could be cool if they put it in a neat display like a hard case with a base that gave you the grade and details.

Would you send in a big name signed pop to be graded. Was thinking of sending in my Chadwick Boseman sign black Panther pop.

This is an interesting topic for me. I love the slabbing/encasing for the protection. I always hoped that PSA would offer just the encasing without the grading for some of the high end stuff.

I think this may be the way. as this then puts pops in line with comics and other high end collectibles.

Still on the fence about grade pops but I can see it being a popular choice to preserve as well as valuing older pops. Since there really isnt a point in grading new pops except for maybe the nft pops

I've had one PSA graded Pop but ended up selling because the capsule was ugly and was poorly made out of cheap plastic. In my opinion the VVGS capsule are way better to look at & made of a sturdy acrylic.

I'm not a fan of grading, but that's because there's no hard set rules or guidelines so it's somewhat subjected/bias. If there was a publicly available guideline, then maybe I could get behind it. But grading should definitely include the pop as well as the box

Its been subjective in sports cards forever. People just go with it.

The whatnot sellers with the stacks and stacks of graded pops kills me. Grading for the most part is for selling and money which is what got me out of basketball card collecting. I do love the encasing so that i don't have to worry about dropping my pops though.

Ive seen a couple of other companies say they do grading. I wasn't sure if they were legitimate though or how they were credible.

I was at Planet Comicon in KC this weekend and saw a lot of people getting things signed and saw a lot of Signature Series pops in booths. Lots of opportunity for shenanigans.

I have an issue with the autograph thing...sooooo PSA will ONLY authenticate stuff they WITNESSED being signed & I always felt this obviously puts them in cahoots with the organizers of the con, the booths etc. and a cash grab for all involved which is fine on the face of it but it leads the hobby down a familiar path that somehow no one sees coming of PSA slabbed stuff that NO ONE WANTS... lol

Currently in sports card collecting we're living in what's being referred to as the "Junk Slab Era"...many thousands of cards that were sent to PSA and then COVID happened, backlogged to all hell & now the majority of them aren't worth a damn for various reasons but yes graded Funko Pops look cute in the packaging and obviously people will TRY to resell em for insane amounts but the bottom usually falls out after a while... :-/

I've seen the authenticators at shows, and yeah, it's a racket. 40 bucks for someone to stand over your shoulder and watch someone else sign a comic book is kind of creepy. But if you're buying on the secondary market, having 'something' to fall back on is, well, something to fall back on.

Slabbing is just kind of weird for things like toys and books to me. Half the fun of those things are being able to read them, or look at them out of the box. Baseball cards...not a big deal. Only two sides.

That's an awesome one to have. Even just the casing itself would be beneficial to make sure nothing happens to it.

Yeah, I understand grading Trading Cards, but Funko Pops doesn't make a lot of sense to me when it seems like its just the box they are grading.

I get some people like it but I dont get it at all. Just my opinion, the addition of the grading info takes away from the appearance of the collectible itself and takes up more room. As a collector I dont think I would ever buy one. With a fake being graded in the past I wont touch these. They only grade the box and seems like a waste of time and money for Pops. It does make sense for comics and cards though.

I think it just helps to secure asking prices just like on comics and cards. Because it has the actual graded value of th item. :freddy2:

Grading it's a money grab. And most people just trying to get it hypeup so they can resell for higher prices. But if you do follow card and the grading game anything under 9 it's basically the same price as selling it ungraded or even lower if you get lower grades. IMO looks cool if it's a piece you gonna keep in your collection, but if you just wanna grade to resell probably not a good idea.

The idea is pretty silly but there is something I like about seeing Pokémon and professional athletes PSA graded like their respective collecting card.

i have both graded comics and graded cards and do like having the item preserved but for pops if there was no pop armor then i would grade them. having the pop armor for me is the same. i can see the value of having the grades but it's not for me at this time.

I’ve seen a lot of graded pops, but haven’t seen one sold in person. I don’t think it will get to the same stage as sports cards for awhile.
