Muppet Series 2 Picks

Postby floydnjanicefan » Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:46 pm

If you're like me, you're super excited for the new Muppet figures and cannot wait for them to arrive. In the meantime, anybody have a dream series 2 line up? Here is mine:

1.) Rowlf
2.) Scooter
3.) Janice
4.) Floyd
5.) Bunsen
6.) Beaker
7.) Swedish Chef
8.) Sam

Series 3 will of course include Statler, Waldorf, Sweetums, Zoot, Beauregard, Lew Zealand, Camilla and Walter, but I don't want to get TOO far ahead of myself.

I love those picks so far. My faves are Scooter and Beaker. This collection is going to be so colorful. I can't wait. The Star Wars collection is cool, but the colors are mostly subdued.

Yeah, looking at my list again, I think I'd rather be guaranteed the entire Electric Mayhem rather than dragging it out over 3 series, so I think I'd switch Sam or the Chef for Zoot.

I def want to see the Swedish Chef, Beaker, Bunsen, and Rowlf. I know this is a Muppets thread but I would love to see some Seasame Street Pop! Including the Count, Grover, Oscar, Big Bird, Elmo, Prairie Dawn, Zoey and Snuffy!

Ok muppet babies, but not until series 3, the only two that I really want for series two, is Statler and Waldorf, because you see my Grandfather looks like Waldorf, and my Uncle Carl, could have been Satlers Twin.

I have friends that work for the Disney Design Group, and they unfortunately have STRICT orders never to reference the Muppet Babies. Muppets Studio, LLC considers Muppet Babies to be an embarrassment to the property, so the odds of seeing merchandise is slim to none.

I loved the show, as did most from my generation, but when you think about the idea of taking puppets, making them cartoon characters, and then making them babies... weeeird. Haha!

As long as we get Bunsen, Beaker and the Swedish Chef I would be thrilled.

Strange that they would think of it asa embarrassment... usually when something makes you millions more dollars in profit, there's nothing embarrassing about it.

"Muppet Babies was a critical success during its time on the air: the show won four consecutive Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program, 1985–88, and won a Humanitas Prize for Children's Animation in 1985.[2]

Muppet Babies was voted "Top Cartoon of the Childhood Days" by the Irvin Hall newspaper's weekly review of the Pennsylvania State University in 2007."

The series was also giving credit for starting the craze of relaunching known childhood cartoons in baby-form. (Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, Loony Toons). I say your friends are full of non-sense.

The thing is though they first appeared as babies in the film, 'Muppets Take Manhattan'. It was only after that they made a cartoon series with them, so since puppet versions of them do actually exist in the film, I would have though it'd be ok.

You can see them in the film here:

Also, that is a bit sad. I've been hanging for a DVD release of the Muppet Babies series, and to think it hasn't come out yet because Muppets Studio is now against them?

Anyway, would love to see Rowlf as well as Zoot, Floyd and Janice (to make up the rest of the Electric Mayhem) possibly come out next.
