Fixing (Repainting) Funko Pops?

Postby addict2films » Tue Sep 02, 2014 8:42 pm

Let's be honest, we have at least one Funko Pop in our collection (or more) that have a really bad paint job or scratches or smudges or just something weird that we can't exchange because it was probably an exclusive or limited edition.

Does anyone on this forum specialize on fixing these Pops? (Maybe doing a bit of re-painting or so?)

I'm just curious how others cope with these horrible paint jobs especially when it's an exclusive. :(

I really try to appreciate each Pop for what it is. Each is a one of a kind in a sense, and the flaws just give each one its own character. I realize this sounds kinda fruity, but hey, it helps me accept those flaws and stops me from obsessing about things I can't change.

Granted, I don't have anything in my collection that would be considered super rare or exclusive, so take from this what you will. :)

Some scrapes and dings can be touched up easy enough with nice acrylic paints and a steady hand. Scratches on metallics, oversprays, bleeds and and other paint issues have to be lived with.

This. I had a metallic captain america with a blue head wing thing... I really miss the guy and if I could get another one I'd really want one with the same mess up. It makes it special, it makes it personal. IF you are only here for the short run and are the type of "I'll never sell my pops!" and then next week/month you are selling them all. Yea a quick touch-up with paint can fix most things, Magic eraser probably could have cleaned up the blue on his feather quite nicely i'm betting. But I'd vote to just keep it as is. And appreciate it for what it is. But that's just one man's opinion.
