Mangaka tend to pop up at SDCC occasionally as guests of large companies like Crunchyroll, plus they do make the odd round on the Japanese convention circuit. I think catching them at JP cons might be easier haha

Yeah more obscure characters need to come into play. I mean they’ve done a couple recently but not near as many as they need to do. I’d prefer short printed obscure characters than a dozen new gokus

Not even obscure people we’re missing at this point, Launch was in the majority of Dragon Ball, we still don’t have Mai & Shu to go with Pilaf despite them being the original primary antagonists (don’t even get me started on the god awful Super appearances they had). I could certainly toss a few less relevant characters on the list though , the Bunny Bulma for example really should’ve had Monster Carrot in the wave with her.

That's my experience, so many people are into Dragonball even if they are not into pops yet. I've never had someone disappointed when choosing one as a gift.
