Interestingly enough I had a question relating to this that I was prepared to ask during the Hall H panel if they allowed questions. Well there were none so maybe someone here knows the answer?

Does anyone know how they choose Freddy's for each year? Is it like just pulling random names out of a hat, or is there an ongoing list that they have at the ready and each year maybe some folks vote which to add? I've always been curious what goes in to it and whose decision it actually is. Who gets the final say on the set rotation of Freddy's? Is it Ben Butcher? Or a different person/team?

This years Freddy's have been some of the best I've seen in a while. Darth Maul, Aang, Optimus, Loki.. etc. That's a crazy starting line up.

Maybe a Freddy's Funhouse question? Since it's not necessarily a question about future IPs/licenses and not really a question for the artists on "Inside the Artists' Studio. Kinda wish this came up when the Average Nerds had Mike Becker as a guest.

I imagine there's a running list of IPs and it's a matter of what's been given the OK with making a Freddy for certain characters. For example, so many of us have been requesting anime Freddys but there has to be some type of hold-up with those licenses (would've thought we'd at least have a Goku or Vegeta Freddy by now). And sidenote, at SacAnime for the Artist Alley agreement, there's some series that artists cannot sell fan art of. So I wonder if it's something along those lines for anime Freddys.

as much as i would love to see more horror freddy's, i'd have to say that i hope the classics are left as is. i'd much prefer to see a freddy jason with some type of glow features.

I can understand that! Maybe a re-vamped one. Glow is my absolute favorite type of variant.

Glow is very cool, especially when the design has a big glow or an all over glow.
I'm looking forward to the blacklight options for this year's theme. I hope that are very reactive and shine really well.

Blacklight is nice! The only thing I am not really liking too much is the yellow faces (Chucky, Myers). I think they look great under blacklight, but meh outside of blacklight. I hope that they can switch things up for some other characters!

Yeah possibly! I feel like it’s a safe question to ask because I don’t want to know what the actual IP’s are. Just their process of elimination. I’m guessing with anime Ip’s they’re more strict on the depiction of their characters?

Seeing all the Freddy request from after 2019 fundays being answered was dope , Squid Games, Optimus Prime ,Thor and Loki, Spiderman, Carnage , Mando, Darth Maul. Funko really knocked it out of the park with the choices this year, I can't wait to see what in store for Fright Night. For a future freddy I would hope to see Freddy Funko as Megatron or Galvatron in normal and black light to go with the optimus!

Unfortunately Freddy doesn't do drag so no female characters. I've been hoping Funko would release a female version of Freddy so they can make female characters. Seems quite overdue.

I agree! I was shocked there was no Freddy as Ronald McDonald this year, but I can see now that maybe it didn’t fit in with the other Freddys they chose.

I also think it HAS to be coming soon. I mean, they did Colonel Sanders, so surely! Fingers crossed it’s Fright Night ‘22 and you can score it in person
