Twin Peaks Action Figures

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Twin Peaks Action Figures

Postby Gillman74 » Sun Dec 18, 2016 3:29 pm

Well, it looks like Funko is intent on making all my action figure dreams come true. Below is a portion of a Reaction Wish List post I made on Nov. 5, 2014. My number 1 wish already came true and now it appears my second one will, too. I thought with the loss of the Reaction line (and with mentions of Lynch's aversion to figures so far) that these would probably never happen. I am happy to see I shouldn't have given up hope. Are there any other Twin Peaks fans out there who just got even more excited for 2017 (which I didn't think was possible)? Thank you, Funko. If Reis or anyone else out there in Funkoland is working on these, please feel free to give updates on these as time goes on. Anyone else out there like my list (yes, I now realize I was remiss in leaving out Audrey Horne)? I know we never get all the figures we want for each line, but just having any Twin Peaks figures at all will be great. Thanks again.

Jaws
[*]Chief Martin Brody w/rifle and chum bucket
[*]Quint w/attachable fishing pole
[*]Hooper w/Chrissie Watkins' hand
[*]Hooper in scuba gear w/spear
[*]Alex Kintner w/raft

Twin Peaks
Series One
[*]Special Agent Dale Cooper w/trench coat and tape recorder
[*]Laura Palmer - Wrapped in Plastic
[*]Leland Palmer w/white hair
[*]Bob
[*]Man From Another Place
Series Two
[*]Sheriff Harry S. Truman w/sheriff's hat
[*]The Giant
[*]The Log Lady w/log
[*]Shelly the Waitress in Double R Diner uniform and w/a pot of damn fine coffee
[*]Dr. Lawrence Jacoby w/3D specs and Laura's locket

The Rock Candy line should be the Girls of Twin Peaks.

So the Pops will be: Cooper, Audrey, the Giant, Killer BOB, Lelend w/chase, dead Laura and Log Lady.
I'm guessing the action figures will be a similar lineup.
Jonas is the name, Pops are my game

Current Dorbz/Pint Sized Heroes Count: 20ish
Current Mystery Mini/Idolz/Hikari/Mini Hikari Count: 20

Man, this is so awesome. I know I asked Reis on more than one occasion if Twin Peaks was happening. I'm glad they stuck with it because I've wanted Dale Cooper forever.

I hope Rock Candy was just a listing error. Looking at the Pops and action figures, you really need the ensemble for context. A female-only line would be less Twin Peaks and more "Cigarette Girl", "Dead Girl", and "Librarian Lumberjack".

These are really beyond expectations! Psyched to see they are 4 of the figures I was hoping for back in 2014. Hope for a Wave 2 sometime, but these definitely don't disappoint. Thank you Funko for working on these for so long. The likenesses are unreal and the sculpts truly capture the spirit of the characters. Love that Cooper is in his trench coat!

The Toy Wars descriptions for these reveled that Dale and Log Lady include accessories, which is great. I'm assuming gun and recorder for Coop and Log for Log Lady. BOB has no accessories and Laura features no articulation.

I'm hoping for the central characters:

Donna Hayward
Audrey Horne
Leland Palmer
Shelly
Bobby Briggs

and some of the more popular fan-favorites like:

FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole (it's David Lynch, so, must-have!)
The Giant
Black Lodge Coop (blood stain)
Black Lodge Laura (maybe interchangeable heads - angry and peaceful)
Sheriff Truman (with box of donuts to increase sales)
MFAP (could make him a build-a-figure)

As for everyone else from the original series, oh my… there were so many characters!

On the bubble (but I hope they have a good chance) would be Big Ed and Nadine, Norma, Ben Horne, Josie, Sherif Hawk, Sheriff Andy, Lucy. James Hurley (I know, he's one of the central characters, but I'm still putting him on the bubble because he was a cliche). Major Garland Briggs. Dr. Lawrence Jacoby. Agent Dennis/Denise Bryson. Annie. Maddy Ferguson.

IMO no need for Pete & Catherine Martell, or Hank Jennings (the criminal), or Sarah Palmer (the frizzy haired mom), or Philip Gerard (the one-armed man). Leo. Zombie Leo. Ben Horne's younger brother who loved submarine sandwiches whats-his-name...Jerry Horne. Agent Albert Rosenfield. Doc Hayward. Andrew Packard. Sylvia Horne. Everyone from season 2 (except Annie and Maddy).

The packaging has been updated to a 4-pack, which I think looks great! I love the design, all the little references are perfect. Also Coop includes coffee cup and recorder, and LL includes Log.

My choice for another 4 pack would be Man from Another Place, Giant, Leland and Audrey.

Sheriff Harry

And would be happy to see Nadine, Leland, Maddy. Honestly, I'd be happy to see anyone. It's such a nutty cast.

Got mine today. Laura has blood spatter which I find odd, because I don't believe thats the way she looked in the show. The details seem a little smudgey compared to the test shots, but that's to be expected. Overall, I give them a b+. Also, I'm a fan off the show. Personally, out of all of them, I think the Laura Pop is the best.

So, I guess I'll just do an amateur review. Overall, I like the set. The packaging may be the best thing about it, though. The black lodge accents and the green foil trim really pop. The simple photos on the back, also trimmed in green foil are a nice minimalastic touch.

As for the figures, my first reaction was disappointment with Laura. It's a unique figure, as is its Pop counterpart, but here she is represented with blood splatter. I'm not sure I've ever seen an image of her with blood on her from the show. The point was to make her look angelic and at peace, sad as that is. Here, in death, was the peace she could not have in life. Anyway, its disturbing, more than normal, and I think detracts from the intention. Next, I noticed that Dale and Bob's faces were kind of more doughy than I remembered and the painted eyes on each were kind of off. YMMV of course, but I was a little let down. Surprisingly, the Log Lady is the gem of this pack. She looks great, both her dress and her glasses. Laura looks great as well, except for the blood. So, kind of 50/50 on the figures and 100% on the box.

Sorry for the junky pics, but my camera is lame.

Thanks! I think they look pretty good. I will be honest and say that I would have preferred someone other than the log lady. I understand why she is included and looove how the inclusion of the log next to her, but would have liked a bigger character. I will likely order these soon.

The blood spatter on Laura is actually accurate to the show. It's just that most camera angles focus on her face, which is blood-free. But here's a screenshot from the pilot episode (sorry for the gruesome imagery):

Image

I recently bought the figures myself and I think they are absolutely fantastic. To be fair, I bought them in-store, and sorted through a couple sets whose paint applications were a little off the mark, but the set I ended up buying has excellent paint apps. The sculpts are great and all the characters have really good likenesses (super happy that Cooper looks like Cooper! I've wanted a figure of him for a long time):

Image

The attention to detail really is stellar. Compare the bandages on the Laura figure to the screenshot above -- they're placed in the same spots! All the characters' clothing is very detailed and faithful to the show, especially Log Lady's knitted sweater. And the packaging, as mentioned before, is really nice.

So, if you're able, try to buy this set in a physical store, or, if you can only buy online, try eBay listings with an in-hand photo of the set being sold, so you can tell if the paint apps are good. Good ones really elevate the figures' likenesses.

Does anyone know if another series of these will come any time soon? I'd love a set of Audrey, Harry Truman, Leland, the Giant and the Man From Another Place!
