Dorbz Question.

Postby popoholic88 » Sun May 01, 2016 5:24 pm

Hello all,ok I'm a Pop collector so I don't know a whole lot about Dorbz.I just started collecting them, which I said that I wouldnt because I have no control.I got some Guardians of the Galaxy Dorbz today and noticed the numbers were colored differently like the pics below. Can anyone tell me why some have the metallic red around the number and some are just grey?Any help would be great, thanks.

The printer might have missed stamping the metallic red when they were running the packaging on the line. I've seen the same thing happen with baseball cards as well.

Just curious I got like 3 or 4 that were grey and the other ones were metallic red.

The grey seems to be the first print run, the red is much more like current releases. Also I haven't been able to find red versions of some of the lesser characters from that series, now I should mention I haven't looked in quite sometime.

Pretty much this. The early production run(s) had glossy boxes with the grey numbers. After that they switched to the current style of matte boxes with spot UV coating and foil stamping on the numbers and Dorbz logos.

Agreed
I remember discussing this before with the numbering system as well. It was just the initial run of the product

If it wasn't this, they'd find something else.

I have a Red Hulk where the pants didn't get painted on all the way. Looks like he's wearing a bathrobe. I might try to sell him as a 'Factory Error - 'Freshly Showered' Variant'. 300 bucks. Confirmed by Funko (someone told me that yeah, it's the Hulk). Willing to create a Certificate of Authenticity if that'll get me another $100.

Oh...better add this: lol Not everyone gets sarcasm.

I like it when they put the Pop or Dorbz in the box upside-down and call it a limited edition factory error and ask 1000 bucks for it. :roflmao:

I did notice a metallic border around the dorbz name for the Sdcc Exclusives, never noticed it for the numbering though.
