Re: Brian, are dorbz dying out? lack of new material
I'm not too concerned. I think there are more than enough new Dorbz ideas sitting out there. I think I saw somewhere that there will be 10 Dorbz alone for Infinity War, so that alone tells me 2018 will be another good Dorbz year.
WHAT AM I DOING?!?!?!

Re: Brian, are dorbz dying out? lack of new material
I don't think Dorbz are phasing out. I feel that due to popularity of Pops and Dorbz, it is a pretty fair ratio of Pops to Dorbz. Pops will always be more just because they are more common even to the casual collectors. People love bobblehead figures. It is rare to see a casual collector with Dorbz. I also think in general they were light on announcements at end of year as they start prepping for convention season.

10 Dorbz in a single series? That may be the most i have seen for Dorbz. In fact, outside of the The Last Jedi I think it may be the biggest I have in any line.

Bombshells wave 2 (Pops) was 10. That's the one that broke me from trying to stay complete on Bombshells Black Panther (Pops) was also 10. I'm sure there are others... oh yeah MotU Pops was 11. Snow White 10. Rick and Morty wave 1- 11. Anyway you get the point This is exactly why I don't try to be complete on much anymore, they release so many in a single wave that it's getting too expensive to keep up. Plus when you get a Pop or Dorbz here and there it's not hard to absorb into your collection, but when a giant box of 10 or 11 arrives along with all the others you've been buying? Not so easy to absorb.

Most releases that have a pop and dorbz release at the same time for the same movie, pops seem to out number dorbz at a 2:1 or even close to 3:1 ratio... so yeah good luck Infinity War Pop completest

I do notice that I've slowed down on buying dorbz lately so maybe for me at least they're not as appealing any more.

You are right those series and waves were massive as well. I was thinking more along the line of unique characters though. No variants of any kind was what I was thinking.

Re: Brian, are dorbz dying out? lack of new material
I don't really think that they're dyeing out as much as it's just that Funko is pushing out so many new POPs and so many new product lines that dorbz, which were once the second largest product, are now being more and more overshadowed by the increased numbers of POPs.
First Funko Product: Captain Rex Wobbler
First POP: Deadpool

The new vynl isn't growing on me yet, but I will say if Disney pairings that coming along I might have to get them. Freddy vynls would be awesome.

It seemed to slow down. Waiting for some cool variants.
Thankfully I haven't been drawn into Vynl yet because I would have no money for both lines including the others I've already started!

Kal-El-051 wrote:I don’t think there is anything to worry about quite yet with Dorbz. They will never outpace, or even equal the pace for that matter, of Pop announcements and releases. The reason for that is simple. More people collect pops and therefore more pops are bought. Can’t fault them for going where most the money is.
Agreed. Spot on.
