Finding a full set of Mystery Minis?

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Finding a full set of Mystery Minis?

Postby CanDMan47 » Thu Oct 30, 2014 9:54 am

I'm kind of interested in buying a full set of Marvel's Mystery Minis. The 20 piece set, not to include the SDCC ones or GotG ones. Although I might want those to, just not now. Does anyone see them come for sale this way, often? I checked eBay, Amazon, and the BN marketplace. One had what they called the basic 11 or something like that. Those 11 were: Green Goblin, Punisher, Reg Hulk, Loki (arms crossed), Silver Surfer, Deadpool (arms crossed)' Reg Spider-Man, Dr. Doom,,Galactus, Thor, and Scarlet Witch.

I actually pulled a Deadpool (gun) with my first Marvel purchase, so I've got that. But just buying all 20 would be easier, and I like easy! :roflmao:

If they do come up from time to time, what price range do you see? $100, $150? The 11 were just short of $60, and the the others are exclusives and rarer pieces, so I'm guessing a bit higher for the second half. And I'm sure buying individually will be a lot more than buying by the set. Unless I find one seller hat has them all and will combine shipping.

So do you think I'll have any luck finding them as a complete set on those reseller places?

Thanks,
John/CanDMan47

Have you looked into buying a case?

You might see a set from time to time. Buying a case, should yield a lot of the 'commons' and couple of the chase pieces, but you'll still end up a couple pieces short.

I look for sellers who have lots for sale, or sellers who have a bunch of auctions for individual pieces. Most sellers will combine shipping so buying three or four from a single seller saves some money on shipping. Then it's just a matter of being patient.

I've definitely seen that patience helps. After jumping all over individual figures online when they first start coming out, I usually end up with a bunch of duplicates from buying them in stores when they show up.

I also find that once I get two or three from a set, my interest in the other pieces changes. 'Gotta Haves' become 'So Whats' and vice-versa. I really wanted the Firefly Mini's, but then I got the Loot Crate Mal, quickly lost interest and went after the two Alien figuress instead.

I usually just buy people's dupes and search ebay for the chases individually. Buying a case does get all commons and a chase (the "older" ones with 24 pieces) but you'll end up with lots of dupes too..

I want all the Marvel set. So that is where I'm starting.

Actually, I want the Captain America, but there isn't one? What's the deal with that? (Rhetorical question, unless there is an actual good answer)
