What do you use to Track your Collection?

Postby MastaYoshigR » Sun May 07, 2017 11:17 am

I am trying to find out what is the most used way to keep track of your Collection. As i am building my own Mobile App and Paired Website to do so. And would love some idea’s that would help bring it all together a bit more.

I think PPG (Pop Price Guide) is the most popular method of collection tracking. I've also seen an increase in people using an app called "Covetly". And then there's people that make their own unique excel spreadsheets

I use Pop Price Guide, most people I know use it for tracking and pricing. I'll check out Covetly, haven't heard about that one!

I am working on a app. Just trying to figure out what people would want the app to do to help make it work for all.

I use PPG and an excel spreadsheet. I am not sure it this has changed, but last I heard, covetly was only for Apple products. If and when it becomes available for android, I'll be checking it out.

I use PPG like most people. I would love it if it showed how much I paid for something with out having to click into the actual pop to get that info. The site I use to track my comics does this and I have grown to really like it.

So you would like to enter the price you paid. I can make that happen. Also need a way to see current price its selling for, and a way to export all data into a excel spreadsheet. These are all things i can do. Also Android and IOS Support. That will be done at launch.

Current Price is a hard thing to get as Tracking that data via ebay is crazy. But overtime i will be able to figure it out.

I'll open up PPG once every, like, 6 months and try to reorganized what I have and make sure my list is correct on there, but for everyday use I just have an Excel spreadsheet file. It's linked with One Drive so I can access and edit it on my phone when I'm out.

Currently I use PPG. I would use Covetly if they had an app for Android out but sadly at the moment they do not.

I would like an app where I could change the currency. I use ppg and Covetly at the moment but they both use $ and I would like to see how much things are in £.

Wouldn't US pricing be totally different than a UK or European market? So that secondary market wouldn't just translate by exchange rate.

I use PPG because I obsessively track every piece of Funko related items I get. I used to also use Pop in a Box, simply because A) Pops were listed in release order instead of alphabetical. and B) because it would tell you what % of a line you had and I liked that. Then they completely changed how it worked and (to me anyway) it's now an incoherent, jumbled mess.

I use Microsoft Excel, PPG is neat for pricing information but it takes forever to manually add and delete pieces from your collection, plus I have over 600 so Excel is definitely easier to find ones I'm missing

Tracking Pricing is hard. As the only main place is EBAY for the moment. And to ping ebay for data constantly is a bit messy. And to make sure you are looking at the right product every time you ping it is on top of it challenging. So far i have it so you can Scan the Barcode of each POP figure and add it to a wishlist or owned list. I am having a bit of a issue getting accurate data as their is not Massive Database with all this correct Data. But what i will do is slowly build this database.

A lot of sales happen in private as well, I agree price tracking will never really be accurate with excessive data points and ebay has so many shill bidders and trolls trying to mess with price. Sounds like a nightmare of a task to take on ](*,). I think the barcode scanner idea is awesome way to go for quick additions when you're on the go, I think the chase variants share the same barcode as their common counterpart though.

I am looking into how Variants Work. As i dont have any Variants my self i cant Provide Such Data. But if you look at the website http://www.thepopcollector.com/ you can see what i do have. I need some help cleaning up the items database and maybe helping expand the items them selfs. While the Database is currently small it should make it easy to deal with.

I use Covetly. I like that it's an app. I rarely remember to add stuff if I have to wait until I get to computer. I'm not sure about the accuracy of the prices, but I'm not really interested in that anyway since the prices are very different here than they are in the US.

PopPriceGuide.com is the only thing I have ever used. However, I wish there was a way to confirm independent sales so we could have a better gauge of the market.

I use PPG religiously. If there was an app it would be even better but it's not too big of a deal. It helps when I'm out and about so I can remember if I have something or not.

I think PPG used to do that but too many scammers out there and people began to blame ppg for the mishaps = too much liability IMO. If you can truly address the UI and make the experience to add a pop easier with less clicks, I think you'll have a chance against PPG - scan the barcode, maybe pop photo recognition. I'm not sure how to code but that in itself sounds like an enormous task and would require a huge data base to begin with.

Hope this helps.
