Yeah, at that time it was glass. Can you imagine being in the audience and them having to stop the game to clean it up and put up a new one just so they can finish the game. That's insane.

Now it is made of Plexiglas or some type of tempered glass so it doesn't shatter as easily and is safer.

It looks like safety glass like from a car windshield when it broke. I think that’s what it’s made of.
