I'm curious how this all will go! I'm sure it will go smoothly but who knows, it's the first time something like this has been done at this scale!

I checked at Wawa today and it was just generic Dr Pepper. I guess if it gets to be Saturday and I still haven’t found the promo bottles I’ll just buy the generic and hope for the best! I suppose I’ll just get from eBay if I decide to get one. I enjoy Dr. Pepper but stopped drinking soda many years ago after I began reading ingredients labels. The amount of sugar in soda is over the top. And I also try to stay away from artificial sweeteners. Besides... chocolate is my preferred sugar delivery system.

I think this is the same route I am going. I gave up soda 10 years ago and we hardly ever have any in the house. The kids are allowed soda every once in a while, but I don't need them drinking three 20 ounce bottles. Haha. Dr. Pepper was my drink of choice and I remember the days it was hard to find outside of Texas.

So we probably don't need to have the special Dr Pepper labels (granted, I also don't think it said "specially marked Dr Pepper" anywhere either) and the advertising on the poster with Lil Sweet shows just generic Dr Pepper bottles. So this is positive!

When they have had previous promotions to get Uber ride credits, the UPC's on the bottles I took pics of to send in were all the same and worked fine so I don't think that will be an issue.

I cannot wait to get Lil' Sweet though, those commercials with him have me CRYING laughing. I hope they keep making more of them.

This is exactly right. They aren't going to change UPC's just for a giveaway promotion. They are called "universal product codes" for a reason.

Now if they were to insert some kind of special code in the cap that you need to text in, that would make more sense. But if all they require is proof of purchase and the upc code, which has been stated, no need to hunt for a special bottle.

Interesting. Obviously I can only speak from my experience and my family did not visit California in that time period. I just have childhood memories of going on vacation and not being able to find Dr. Pepper. It definitely would have been in the late 80's so I wonder if that is when its distribution grew.
